I am new to this, but am now so desperate to get back to a normal life. I am looking at trying T3 Cytomel privately as my Doctor will not prescribe it. At least if I try a low dose and see how I get on with it I can then report back and insist that it has changed the quality of my life. So looking at buying it from a reputable foreign pharmacy.
I am 54 years old, 91kg and 5”7 and a size 18. With a degenerate spine and an under active thyroid and still feel tired throughout the day. All my doctor tells me when I have bloods is that it is all still normal and the dose should stay the same.
Any advice greatfully received

Well, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him! Doctors that behave like the patient is too stupid to understand his condition and/or it's none of her business, are just the sort of doctors that are likely to fob you off with a tissue of lies!
Hi Return2sender, welcome to the forum.
What you need to do is go back to the surgery and ask for copies of your blood test results. If you live in the UK you are legally entitled to them, and any attempt to fob you off should be met with the information that they are breaking the law, and you can take steps to remedy the situation.
Once you have the copies, post them on here with all the numbers : results, ranges, dates and doses. Then we'll have a clearer idea what's going on.
As already requested in reply to your previous posts, as you are a new member please also give us some information about your thyroid journey, are you under an endo or just GP, what dose of Levo you are on, if it has been changed at all, your latest results for
TSH
FT4
FT3
Thyroid antibodies
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
All these tests are important to know whether or not you will benefit from T3. Many people ask about T3 but it's not T3 they actually need, we find they are either not optimally medicated on Levo or their nutrient levels are too low or deficient so that thyroid hormone can't work.
Taking T3 when not needed can cause health problems, but if your results show that you don't convert T4 to T3 well enough then you may well benefit from adding T3 to your Levo.
If you are in the UK then your doctor must, by law, provide you with your test results if requested and no charge can be made
Ask at your surgery's reception for a print out of your results with their reference ranges ranges - ranges are important as they vary from lab to lab. Post your results and other information in a new thread and members will help.
Thanks, but it’s like you say, I always feel like I’m taking up the doctors time and walk away without answers. I asked a different doctor 6 months ago for a T3 test to check my levels and then when I went back to him he just said they were ok. I am not convinced that the doctors are managing my condition.
Return2sender, when exactly was your last thyroid test and what were the actual results i.e. the TSH and FT4 numbers?
Also, what dose of thyroxine are you taking?
If you don't have the test result details, please go to your surgery and request them to be printed out and given to you. Members here cannot give you the support you need without knowing this information.
As already mentioned, you are legally entitled to your test results so ask for them, the surgery will be breaking the law if they refuse.
If you can't get all those tests mentioned done at the surgery then you will have to do what hundreds, if not thousands, of us here do and that is private tests at home with fingerprick or venous blood draw, with one of our recommended labs, both do a full thyroid panel/vitamin/mineral bundle
Just wanted to say welcome and glad you have joined us. Lots of pleas forcreadings and ranges, ranges being important as they differ from lab to lab so without them it would just be guessing. Some doctors unfortunately think that one little pill treats all. It it doesn't. So results may show that you just aren't on enough medication or that you aren't converting properly. Both things that are common but so aren't aware of.
Also the. Itsmins etc are important as well as they help, when optimal, your thyroid to feel much better.
There are other things that can help as well. If you look on the Thyroid Uk site-they run this forum-many other tips and suggestions. Should put if anything you don't understand. I learnt such a lot reading these questions and looking at the answers as well.
Can I suggest that you create a new thread with the above information. This thread is 9 days old and people rarely read threads once they get older than a day or two. So you need to create a new on. Just put something like "Could I have some feedback on my results please" as the title.
But I can tell you now that the first comment will be that we need the reference ranges in order to help you. It will look something like :
Serum TSH level 1.6 mu/L (0.5 - 5)
or whatever the numbers are - it is those numbers after the result that we need as well as the result itself.
Sorry, but as I said before, ("Once you have the copies, post them on here with all the numbers : results, ranges, dates and doses.") we need the ranges to make sense of those results. But, it does look as if you have a serious conversion problem.
I would suggest you write a new post, giving those results, with the ranges, the date they were done, and how much levo you were taking at the time, so that more people will see it. No-one is going to see this update because your post will be too far down the list, now.
