Does this sound like Lyme?

I’ve been posting a fair bit on here recently in my quest for answers to my poor health.

I mentioned Lyme to my gp months ago and it was dismissed. I asked for a test again a couple of months ago and the gp said she had requested authorisation from the lab - they have to approve it apparently.

Anyway, I’ve been thinking about it again. Does anyone have any experience? I’ve noticed that I seem to go through phases of 10 days to three weeks maybe, when I feel really well. Joint are fine and not sore/crunchy, shortness of breath goes away, energy levels are normal, no palpitations or heart beating out my chest under exertion and I think yay, I’m cured.

Then all of a sudden it comes back. Ie today, I’ve been feeling a bit rubbish for a few days, temp regulation has gone again, really fatigued, heavy legs, numbness in finger tips, feel kind of anxious like my heart is racing, I feel breathless like I’m getting a chest infection and my rib cage is kind of achey, again like I’m getting flu or something.

This is definitely the third time this has happened in roughly 3 to 4 week cycles. I know my B12 is lowish, and my ferritin is low but surely my symptoms wouldn’t improve then deteriorate again? I wondered if it was linked to my period and it may well be but would I get the joint pains and weird chesty feeling?

Just another query on my quest for somewhere to start!

TIA

If you have low ferritin, your symptoms could worsen after your period. Do you keep a diary of symptoms, levo dose, blood tests and events?

I have all that info apart from keeping a diary of the symptoms. I did for a while but tbh I’m bloody useless at sticking to it! I know that this I definitely the third time I’ve felt like this and that I felt really well for about three weeks before. As I say, I would’ve thought I would have constant symptoms if it was because of my low vits n mins

Low progesterone or oestrogen progesterone balance can be affected

Suggest to note when symptoms are worst in relation to your menstrual cycle

What’s your vitamin D level like?

Murphysmum profile image
Murphysmum in reply to SlowDragon

Vit D is 75 so “adequate” but I’m still supplementing anyway.

My symptoms are definitely worse for around 10 days after my cycle on average.

I’m clutching at straws I know but it’s so frustrating to be well (and I mean really well!) and then go down again. Because of where I live and my habits and job (until I gave it up a few months ago) being bitten by a tick is not unlikely and I read that chronic Lyme can flare in 4 week cycles... fits! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Vitamin D may need to be a bit higher, at least around 100nmol.

Looking on google - it seems good Vitamin D levels can help balance oestrogen and progesterone

Progesterone levels need to rise in second half of cycle after ovulation

Hmmm, thank you. I’ve bedn taking vit d orally but have just changed to the better for you spray, and I’m headed off on holiday in two weeks 😁 so that should boost it a bit.

Hoping I feel well enough to enjoy it... 🤞🏻

Have you considered parasites? Their life cycles links with the lunar cycle.

As our immune systems become compromised and inevitably have low stomach acid from being clinically hypothyroid i.e. low cellular T3 we can pick up unwanted passengers. H Pylori can be a culprit here as well.

Dr Hilda Clarke’s website might be worth exploring? Also Quicksilver Scientific have great information on their YouTube channel eg GI Detox and Black Box2 including the Bio Botanical Research Biocidin.

Aim to get alkaline with a first morning urine of 7.0 to 7:4 using a pH strip.

The altered pH environment helps along with an alkaline diet I.e ease back on meat and increase the veggies and good fats, minimise sugar.

Remove anything creating electro smog ie Wi-fi.and mobile phones especially when sleeping..

With the breathlessness think about mould and yeasts? To get rid of the toxins given off by unwanted guests we use up a lot of anti oxidants to try to keep our internal pH steady so our Selenium based glutathione master anti oxidant system decreases. NAC is a glutathione precursor and helps remove chest mucus. Remove source of mould if applicable Ultra Binder is a great product when used in conjunction with botanicals to eliminate this.

The heart palpitations might be due to low electrolyte balance having ensured your freeT4 free T3 is in range to start with! Reverse T3 will let you see if you’ve got issues converting T4 to T3.

It might be worth working with a Functional Nutritionist to access an Invivo Clinical GI Map Test to identify what you’ve got though this doesn’t test for Borrelia and coinfections (Armin labs). By removing the toxic load and altering your internal pH you’ll be able to reclaim your domain and health.

PM me if you require the name of a Functional Nutritionist.

The NHS Lyme year is unreliable, they do not have a protocol for Lyme disease.

Lyme disease cases are increasing every day. My Nutritionist is treating several cases. He has a test that takes 10 minutes for the result.

Whereabouts do you live?

Sorry! “Thinking about seeing a”!

if this private gp is a standard medically trained gp then they have the same inefficient toolbox as an NHS standardly trained gp unless you are seeing dr rangan chatterjee who is an NHS GP but also a functional medical dr privately

therefore he has a toolbox with answers

I don’t think he’s taking on anymore patients just now 😕

It is what my Nutritional therapist has said he can and does do so I cannot explain it, he tests and treats people with Lyme disease.

It sounds to me like your thyroid dose might need increasing but you need to get your results first.

My thyroid meds are fine, actually a little over medicated so I’ve dropped from 175mcg to 150 + 25mcg every two days.

I’m feeling better this week, aches have gone but still very fatigued.

Update: well, a little one. My gp agreed to test for Lyme so I had bloods this morning. I’m going to shrivel up soon 😂

Now wait a week and see... almost hoping it is so I can feel better 😕

Murphysmum just reading your post - any luck on Lymes test? I am experiencing the same thing you are! A few decent weeks then BAM just line that the flu like feeling comes on for about a week. I have Hashimotos and have dealt with this on and off for months! Finally last month started working w an integrative doctor who is doing tons of testing then going to tweak my T3/T4 meds. I think my cells are not absorbing the T3 (what we need to feel good). When it comes on I have zero energy crushing fatigue, dry mouth, weird head pressure. And then after 4-7 days it just lifts like I suddenly feel better. Crazy!

Hi! It wasn’t Lyme so all down to hashis I guess.

I’m generally a bit better than when I posted originally but it varies.

I’m seeing Dr Toft next week though so hopeful he will be able to help 🤞🏻

in reply to Murphysmum

Thanks for the reply and good luck to you! Such a struggle! All my blood tests are back and I sit down with my new doctor next week. She is focusing on stuff no one has looked at like inflammation and hormones. I'm reading that if progesterone and estrogen levels are off it can also keep T3 from getting into your cells as well. Anyway good luck to you!
