Hi all,
I know this has been asked a zillion times. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to successfully lose weight and maybe even exercise while having an underactive thyroid?
Information is confusing out there. Isabella Wentz for example says try whatever exercise you like, provided it doesn't leave you exhausted afterwards (even if it is high intensity).
Jillian Michaels, hypo herself too, is pretty hard core, she advocates regular intense exercise for weight loss/speed up metabolism, but says it is not that onerous once once reaches their goal.
Eric Berg even advocates "bulletproof" coffee followed by intense exercise.
Most other sources say it has to be gentle (yoga and so on) to not deplete T3. Something pretty regularly mentioned by others here.
Yet I know many forumers here are pretty active. I used to be a pretty fit, regular gym goer prior to thyroid woes.
I want to hear from those who have successfully resumed an active lifestyle and managed to shift the unwanted extra weight, to know what worked for you in the hope it can be applied to others. If you have links to other sources, those are welcome too!
Thanks!
