Your TSH, FT3 and FT4 look fine

Your TPO and TG antibodies are both very high. This confirms that cause of being hypothyroid is due to autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's

About 90% of all primary hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Always get actual results and ranges. Post results when you have them, members can advise

Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working

Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten.

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first, at same time ask for vitamins to be tested

But don't be surprised that GP never mentions gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's gut connection is very poorly understood

Many thanks for your kind reply SlowDragon. As you said my GP has no interest in my gut pains. I posted yesterday that my Levo has been increased from 175mcg to 200mcg. What do you think regards increase?

You need to get vitamins tested asap and coeliac blood test (ideally) before changing to absolutely strictly gluten free diet

If coeliac test is positive then you have to remain on gluten rich diet until endoscopy (max 6 weeks wait officially)

If Coeliac test is negative then can go strictly gluten free immediately

If the results are from before increase, then you possibly may find increase is not needed/might make you feel worse

You could try alternate days 175/200

Or leave as is and get vitamin levels tested and strictly gluten free diet

Then retest in 2-3 months
