Vitamin D

I’ve managed to raise my Vitamin D from 60 to 110 by taking for three months 3000 IU D3 with 100 mg K2. I’ve just begun to have unpleasant almost daily diarrhoea which I can only put down to the D3 - although it’s odd that it’s taken 3 months to become an issue.

It was time for me to have a break anyway. Can anyone help with advice on how long I should stop for, when I should test again and what a good maintenance dose is.

Thanks everyone

more likely something else

Have you tested thyroid levels recently

Do you have Hashimoto’s

Different batch of NDT?

I did wonder about this SD. Nothing different in meds, but quite unwell at the moment with acute urinary retention awaiting investigation. Catheterised. No UTI

Thyroid levels tested recently along with other bloods. I Not to hand but FT3 top of range and FT4 near bottom.

Folate and B12 had plummeted too. Folate at bottom of range. Have restarted Thorne’s today, having been told to stop 6 months ago as each was twice over range when tested.

If I do want to take a break, how long should that be? Or should I take a maintenance dose in the interim?

You may have pushed your calcium level to high, diarrhoea is a symptom of hypercalcemia.

Thanks for your response.

Bloods just done. Calcium mid range.

Interesting to read your comment about hypercalcaemia causing diarrhoea. When I had hypercalcaemia it caused serious constipation.

Just one of many. I cannot take VitD supplements in any form and have had hypercalcemia so can verify diarrhoea is not uncommon.

Thank you for taking the trouble to find that.

I was just trying to differentiate between diarrhoea caused by Vitamin D itself and diarrhoea caused by hypercalcaemia caused by Vitamin D.
