Are there any hair products that help if all of your hair is in dormant mode and shedding?
Or would it make no difference until you are euthyroid?

While working toward the right dose of thyroid hormone for you, you could get your vitamin levels checked out. Good vitamin and mineral levels will help hair/nails etc.
Thank you so much .
Should've asked Nanaedake, does your go surgery do vitamin and mineral levels as whenever I asked did I need supplements they said no and that I get all that I need from the foods I consume and am not deficient anyway.
I do take calcium citrate and vitamin d3
I’m in remission from Graves Disease but in the early stages of my treatment I was allowed to become very hypo and my hair started coming out 8n handfuls. I found it very distressing. K8nd of the straw that broke this camel’s back.
I got advice from lots of people on here. I used to use shampoo and conditioner made with I think meadowsweet. I used to buy it fr9m a company on the Isle of Skye but I think it was sold and I’m not sure if it’s still possible to get it.
I also used a very good Keratase shampoo that helped your scalp again it was a long time ago but any hairdresser that seals Kerastase will be able to advise you on which one you want.
I’ve also used Plantur 39, shampoo, conditioner and a liquid that you can put on in between shampooing and that was good. I’m now using John Frieda thixkening products and they seem quite good too. I’ve got shampoo, conditioner and s9mething you put on in the shower. That made my hair feel strange last t8me I used it but it actually looked ok. Nice and thick and a fair amount of body.
I’d say my hair started to improve once I was on the correct amount of Levothyroxine, I was discharged and stopped all my thyroid medicines back in 2013 s8nce then I’ve tried to eat well to help my body and that helps my hair and nails - they were awful at the same t8me as my hair was awful!
I eat a lot of oily fish, leafy greens and things that are good for me. I don’t eat junk food - I’ve bern on a gluten free diet for three years or so - I wanted to reduce my thyroid antibodies and it worked - McDonalds and the likes don’t really ‘do’ gluten free food. I gave up Diet Coke. Fizzy drinks and that sort of thing - the only fizzy drink I have is the odd glass of Prosecco genrrally stick with water or decaf drinks and maybe the odd small glass of red wine and I have to say I still like chocolate althoughnow it’s usyally a couple of squares of 80% dark chocolate - alas no more of my favourite Fruit and Nut!
Meadowsweet is still available, company has been taken over but product available and good .....just be careful to use only a small amount at a time - little is more!
Must have s look, thank you
There's a meadowsweet shampoo by John Masters organic. Would that be it?
Thank you Fruit and Nutcase.
That's such positive news,
I've gone gluten free, largely dairy free, no processed foods, no alcohol and know it's early days yet as diagnosed this January.
Will see if I can find the meadow sweet shampoo. If not I'll definitely be able to get the keratase
Scroll down and you’ll come to the shampoo and conditioner.
Thanks everyone Ive just ordered the meadowsweet shampoo and conditioner from G Baldwin and co London 👍
Reading over this really encourages me. Good when someone has experienced what you're going through and really understands 😀
