I have hair loss everywhere:

Head

Arms

Underarms

Legs

Pubic

Eyebrow

Eyelash

Nose

Hair growth is slow everywhere and coming back in thinner.

I hardly sweat anymore as well.

What are the possible causes?

Have you been diagnosed with thyroid disease and are you receiving treatment?

I very rarely sweat either even in the hottest summer, if I do it tends to be my face or back and there is no smell from it. Since starting the menopause I get hot flushes and sweat a bit more but nothing that’s really noticeable. I did read somewhere the lack of sweat could be an adrenal issue.

I also have lots of hair loss, head, under arms, very little eyebrows left, legs, underarms did thin but seem to be fuller again, other regions I won’t mention etc etc.

Re the hair loss, I recently come across information that said it could be a zinc deficiency or menopausal symptoms even if still have regular periods. I’ve started taking a zinc supplement and my hair on my head seems much thicker but I’ve also just started estrogen patches and cream from the dr.

If you get any further information please let me know.

Your symptoms overlap between hypothyroidism and adrenal deficiency. Both are always present with several nutritional deficiencies.

Lack of sweating is a symptom of iodine deficiency and hypothyroidism/low T3 and so is the hair loss within eyelashes and eyebrows. Hair loss in the pubic area and underarms are signs of adrenal stress with loss of adrenal androgens mainly cortisol and DHEA.

Best to test your thyroid function (TSH, Free T4 and Free T3, plus the 2 antibodies thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb), thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb).

Additional tests for vitamins B12, B1, B6, D, and ferritin, zinc, and if possible a full adrenals profile.

Just under no circumstances, to be led by doctors to believe that this is menopause and/or part of ageing.

All my hair everywhere is thinner not only from loss but the hair is so thin. Hair under arms etc finer and thinner. I have list 60 percent of hair from head. It is noticeable. I can see scalp everywhere. Hair was thickest before this. Hair is growing weak. It doesnt have strength to stamd straight up when it regrows. 2 derms said it is telogen. Hair just falls out of my head and eyebrows. Hair loss on head and rest of body started 2 years ago. Eyebrow ans eyelash loss started in Jan of this year.

2 years ago before hair loss i had severe stress for month. Followed by flu with week of weightloss lost a stone in weight in the week.

A month ago diagnosed with hpylori. I havr has burnig pain the same length of time as the hair loss. Treated with antibiotics. Get repeat test results in 2 days to see if gone. The burning pain is mostly gone.

The lanugo hair on my face is finally starting to reduce.

My peroxidase antibodies are 9 above the range. I see a private endo on Fri to discuss what he thinks is causing it all. Will ask him to retest full thyroid if he doesnt recommend it. Want to see if h pylori treatment will have reduced the antibodies.

This is so heartbreaking it makes me not want to live. I barely look in the mirror anymore.

What do i do to help my adrenals? I know hypo requires medication what about adrenals?

Ferritin is 50. It was 70 but stopped supplements during h pylori treatment for 3 weeks.

B12 is good

Protein is 7 above the range and is deemed gd 68 gl.

Cortisol was tested dr said it was fine. Dont know the result but i have asked for results for endo. So will see it all on friday.

My periods are shorter and lighter 2 -3 days. My hormones are fine not menopausal.

My right eyelid keeps drroping intermitently as well. Sometimes its droopig other times not. Dont know why it is drroping or what causes it not to. If i were to put eyeshadow on the socket area you wouldnt see it when it droops. The eyebrows are thinning throughout the eyebrow not the outer third. The eyrbrows on the inner third have started to flake this past 3 weeks. Prob because so much hair has shed in these areas. Just keeps flaking like eyebrow dandruff.

If i could leave this earth today and not live this life i would. I really don't want to live a life like this continuing for the next 40 + years.

These are my most recent results taken at the start of my h pylori treatment

Do you have any labs from testing your sex hormones, e.g. estradiol, estrone, progesterone, testosterone, shbg, dhea-s, fsh, and lh? And it is important to know during which phase of your cycle these were taken.

Yes from several months ago on day 20 of 32 day cycle. Have to find them will post when i get it

Do you have ranges? And these numbers were pre or post-ovulatory? Want to confirm phase. The testosterone is total or free?

Best to measure lh and fsh at the beginning of the cycle. I’d want to know if you’re perimenopausal.

Having said that, I’ve never read of your myriad of symptoms related to menopause.

You have positive thyroid antibodies which suggest Hashimoto's.

You may be suffering from food allergies, typical of most people with Hashimoto's.

The first recommendation that will hopefully make a difference is that you give up gluten, a protein found in wheat and all grains, and dairy, and see how you feel after a couple of months.

Dr Izabella Wentz has written widely about her journey with Hashimoto's and how she managed to have it under control. Helicobacter Pylori is one of the triggers for Hashimoto's

Some articles from her website thyroidpharmacist.com/artic... thyroidpharmacist.com/artic...

The treatment that you have received may have included Proton Pump Inhibitor which reduces the stomach acid and makes you feel awful with its side effects and mostly with the undigested food left in your guts to ferment. thyroidpharmacist.com/artic...

Having said that do not take any HCL without checking with your doctor.

Your active b12 levels are good and I would not worry much about the positive antibodies IF. Some people with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, Hashimoto thyroiditis, Addison disease or Graves disease may have IF antibodies without having pernicious anemia.

Yes i knew about the positive test for hashimotos and the h pylori as a cause. I get results for h pylori tmw to see if it is gone. I am going to ask the endo to do repeat thyroid results then to see what impact on the antibodies it has made. It has been nearly 5 weeks since the treatment ended. Would my peroxidase antibodies result cause all those symptoms the hair loss is severe. What does the intrinsic factor antibody level i have mean surely it is caused by the h pylori as well?

In her story, Dr Wentz mentioned the two frightening symptoms, extreme tiredness and severe hair loss, typical of Hashimoto's and are affecting you, too.

Your immune system is in a state of high alerts and the intrinsic factor antibody showing positive as a consequence of this.

Pernicious anemia occurs as an end result to an autoimmune disease that destroys the gastric muscosa. However, in your case, and at the moment, your blood levels of B12 are good and the presence of Intrinsic Factor Antibodies (IFAB) is due to Hashimoto's and is not indicative of pernicious anemia.

If the antibodies were high and your B12 levels were low, then, this would point towards pernicious anemia. This is something to keep an eye on.

It is a good thing to ask for a retest after the treatment; so, to assess, to confirm, and to hopefully give you a treatment.

Thanks. I have tiredness but is not extreme. After food my energy levels go up. I hope the endo is better than my gps. They are hopeless. They dont care about symptoms. They just want easy money i never wemt near a dr until 2 years ago. I wish i could turn the clock back or just have an end to it all

Improvements since h pylori treatment: lips arent dry and peeling. Gums dont bleed. Lanugo hair on my face is going away quite quickly. The burning pain in my side has pretty much gone. But if i have an empty stomach for long the stomach feels sore. There was one day i hadnt ate anything in 6 hours or so and i felt pain.

I seem to have less bruising appearing on my legs. My nail beds sometimes seem more pink than white. I have nails that are pale and then have a red tip along the top i am starting to see more pinkness in them. But i am still supplementing with floradix.

Bowel movements have improved but i have been taking probiotics.

Hopefully, you are on the right track towards recovery. All best wishes and fingers crossed with your endo's appointment.

H pylori test just came back. I am clear of h pylori. Thank god for one small mercy. It is a pity that medicchecks no longer have clinics in nireland because i could have had my.thyroid test redone by now as well. I stead i have to get the endo to do it.

Saw endo doesnt believe thyroid causinf my hair loss.

Has tested my vit.d levels due to tiredness and hair loss. Says it is important for hormones. Said will wait for results before he decides if i need to take supplements. I have started taking vitd supplements. Said my b12 is good. Ferritin needs raised.

Said my.antibody levels could be raises because of h pylori and that it causes raised antibodies. Says my antibodies not badly raised. Is to retest thyroid in 6 weeks. Said it is too soon to retest it after h pylori treatment. Says should know in 6 weeks whether thyroid improved or whether it is malfunctioning.

He was worried about my cold hands asked if they were cold like that alot. I didnt realise they were. Told him i have noticed that they are warm alot more recently.

I asked would i be tired because of stomach he said yes. Told me to take iodine.

Lots of hair fallinf out and lips are dry and peeling again. My hands are like ice boxes. They only warm up when i take floradix. I am getting a hair analysis done. It is asking for 2 grams of hair. It is hard to jusge what 2 grams is. I have a ball of hair that came out from back of myhead this morning run ing my hands through it. Dont know if it is 2 grams or not. All the hair is so thin. If it was my old hair thicknessr it would be 3 times the size
