Hi. My hair starting thinning as soon as i srartted on levo and still comes out in clumps 6 months after starting a low dose. I have not been able to resolve it despite using as many oils and scalp treatments as possible. My hair is just too dry and breaks upon touch. I had really thick hair now it's bald in places. I feel no better on t4 and am researching natural methods to resolve my thyroid issues as the side effects are grim. I wish u good luck and hope u find a solution that works for u.

vwyness, when you first posted, 10 days ago, I suggested you get your vitamins and minerals tested, because you sound as if you have deficiencies, and your thyroid hormone replacement will not work if you have nutritional deficiencies. Have you done anything about getting them tested?

Also, I notice that you never have given your lab results with ranges - there are some numbers, but no ranges. People cannot help you if you Don't give them all the information necessary.

There are no 'natural' methods that resolve thyroid issues for the most part. But you could have your iodine tested to see if low iodine is causing the problem. But then again, most thyroid problems are caused by autoimmune disease. Have you had your antibodies tested? Don't give up. There are plenty of things you can do to help your body accept thyroid hormone replacement without the 'grim' side-effects. And six months is a very short time. :)

My hair has thinned very noticeably recently and I have been found to have low-end ferritin, I wonder if there is a link because I've always had very thick hair unaffected by being hypo.

For me, hair fall is related to my low ferritin and b12 .I am trying to improve my levels and I have seen some improvement. But we I get sad,my hair falls too much.So hair fall is also related to stress. It makes sense because stress depletes body of nutrients especially b12.B12 is connected with iron and iron with folate and the chain goes on.

I also have low cortisol.

It's better that you have your cortisol,b12,ferritin and vit.d tested if your hair won't stop falling.

Hope this info helps you. xx
