I have been off my meds for almost 2 years now. My original TSH that got me diagnosed was 94. When I started meds I never felt much better, so I started researching how to improve my condition naturally. So I went organic, gluten free, and eventually dairy and caffeine free. I also avoid soy. I stopped taking meds eventually because my panic attacks were so bad I felt like I was going to die. My assumption is that I was improving myself so much that I became overmedicated. My TSH now indicates mild hypothyroidism, my hair is still falling out, I still have digestive issues, but I feel much more normal than when I was on meds. I am contemplating going back on a low dose just so I can go to the bathroom again, but I'm terrified of Levothyroxine now. But obviously, you can make alot of improvement through changing your diet, just make sure you recognize the signs of overmedication.

Hi, Have you tried Synthroid?

I have tried Synthroid, generic, and Armour- never felt right on anything.

I asked because I tried Tirosint (levothyroxine sodium) capsules seeking better absorption. I believe it did absorb better to the point I could not maintain my weight among other new unsettling problems (It seemed to improve my mood somehow however).

I returned to using my longstanding non-generic Synthroid as I've been told the strength of batches of generic Synthroid vary (The weight issue, corrected by Synthroid has lead me to believe I do indeed have a absorption issue that I can work on going seriously gluten free, etc., rather than a more conversion type problem).

This experience has made me aware of how differently Levo & Synthroid can affect my body at the same dosage (My labs became ideal on Levo), at least I've gathered with absorption issues.

I hope you find a satisfactory alternative, I wish you good luck as I found it no fun at all while staying on a Tirosint version of Levo.

Hi Almostcrazy, I don't know if anyone here has been able to reverse their condition but others may have. I say that because we've had comprehensive videos by the experts. Izabelle Wentz posted The Thyroid Secret, Tom O'Bryan, Betrayal, and Mark Hyman, The Broken Brain. They have had some success with reversing it in their patients. But the information has become more accessible and more functional doctors may be available to assist. You could try.
