Good morning everyone!! I joined this wonderful site on 9-11-17 and was completely and totally lost! I can not thank you all for the courage you helped me find to look for my own answers too! I'm not there yet but I can see the light. :D I have gotten on some wonderful vitamins and supplements. Taking a great probiotic. IBS issues are so much better!! And I fired my old eye rolling doctor!! Lol I went to a walk-in lab yesterday & order my own tests!! The ones I've never ever had a Dr. agree to test me on. And I also have a appt. on the 18th to see a naturopathic doctor!!! Woo Hoo!!! I'm walking on air today! I can not thank you all enough for the support, the answers and just being here for us all that feel so lost! God Bless everyone of you!!

I'm glad we've been able to help you. :)

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but do be careful with the naturopathic doctor. From what I've read on here of other people's experiences, naturopathic doctors don't have much knowledge of thyroid, and often have some very weird ideas about treatment. Don't let him persuade you to take iodine, for example! Not unless he tests the level first. :)

Great that you have found this site. There really is a fountain of knowledge on here.

I would reiterate what greygoose mentions about naturopaths. I’ve actually been to one. You will need VERY deep pockets if you take everything they recommend 😂. I even went to one that had the fandangled “Health doctor” machine. How it knows all this from you holding a wet tissued metal rod, I do not know. Pages of information. Reminiscent of the old Victorian quack medicine 🤣 where there is nothing scientific to back it up.....

Thank you for sharing the good information and what worked! That’s how we keep paying it forward - and that’s how we keep learning. There are lots of amazing things going on here in the states including DNA testing. DNA testing is not going to cure Hashimoto’s but it does help us to tailor treatment. For instance I found out with my DNA test then I’m among the 30% worldwide with a weak methylation process. The supplements that I need to take include methylated folate. Known for a long time that folic acid is a part of feeling better with Hashimoto’s. What I didn’t know was that taking regular folic acid actually compounds the problem for me. On the other hand taking methylated folate in combination with B 12 and B6 (lots of proprietary blends out there - Methyl Support, Methyl Protect, etc.) provides all kinds of energy for me helps me lose weight on and on. These do need to be taken with some kind of health practitioner support because you can actually over-dose. I found out the hard way that you don’t have to take the methylated folate every day! Or if you do, you can take a greatly reduced dose.

Thanks again for sharing what works please continue to post the good news and what you found that works for you! And let’s keep on encouraging others to do the same we need to hear what works because it’s working for all of us!
