Thyroid Medication Side Effects

Hello Everyone

Does anyone know if bloating/water retention are side effect when starting thyroid medication?

Yesterday I just started Thiroyd (1tablet/1 grain) and about 2 hrs later I had bloating and water in the midsection. This same thing happened to me last year when I started Synthroid 25 mcg. Could anyone share their experience on starting thyroid meds and what to expect especially regarding weight gain and improvement of constipation symptoms?

Also, is there anyone who has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's taking NDT? If so how has your experience been with medication and in general?

Sorry problem with tablet! I m seeing consultant next week. I used to blame alcohol but after 3 weeks without any I was the worst I don't ever been. Its made bearable for me by taking a water tablet every few weeks but that s not ideal. Good luck

Yeah i thought about tryi g an over the counter water pill

I don't find over the counter ones strong enough. I buy mine when on holiday in Spain. Luckily they have a long date.

I have been on Thyroxine now 31 years and have never had side effects. They effect people in differant ways.

I have actually had a time where i stopped taking them not good judgement on my side . But other then that Ok.
