Iron tablets: change of stool colour after years

A delightful question for a Wednesday evening, but which I hope someone can answer.

I've been taking 305mg ferrous fumarate daily for three or so years now, and my stool changed colour in the normal way; black as Guinness. However, for the last few days my stool has been much lighter in colour; I haven't changed my diet or medications at all.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening? Has it happened to any of you?

Light coloured stools are a sign of gall stones. Not saying this is the reason, but it is one answer!
