How many months of T3 or T4 do you get prescribed ?

I only get 28 days at the moment and wondered how much others get prescribed each time,

I have seen that we should get at least 3 months worth so not sure why I only get 28 days

So would like to know if I can get 3 or 6 months or longer

Im finding it harder to get Mercury Pharma T3 and T4 .

I get 3 months levo but only one month T3. I got a 2 month prescription for t3 but the boots on the hospital will only give 28 tablets at a time. The levo is prescribed by the gp.

Yes I agree. I get two months worth at a time, but like you can only take Mercury Pharma Levo and it's incredibly difficult to get. I have to drive 10 miles to pick it up from only very helpful independent pharmacy that will supply it.

Flat refusal to supply from three nearest local large chain pharmacies, even though it says brand must be Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine on my prescription

In past I used to get 6 months at time, much more convenient.

Online pharmacy is an option.

I thought i read somewhere they had to give 3months on thyroid meds ? ,

Im sure i used to get 3 months of T4 but not the rest of my meds. so wrong its not like we are going to overdose on them or anything,

I suppose the pharmacist gets more for it being 28 days at a time .

Im like you but a 35 mile round trip which i had to do 3 times for meds this month as they forgot things and tried to give me wrong brands, so much for free meds it cost more in diesel than my prescription.

I might state that to GP as the local chemist won't prescribe me 2 of my drugs re the price, so think they should make an exception on this one for me after last 4- 5 months i've had to go twice and once 4 times as they kept forgetting bits or couldn't get the right brands,

I am getting really fed up with it as parking is a nightmare and got bad back as well :(

Can you call to double check first? I always get a name as people tend to do things properly once you’ve repeated or asked for their name (I’d ask if they’ll be in at the time you’ll be collecting as you’ll come straight to them) Even calling at say 10am when they are less busy and asking them to call you back if they are (busy) to confirm the brands and your prescription. And explain you have a bad back so it’s important you don’t have to keep going back. I would complain too. 4 times is ridiculous. I’d be fuming.

Hi, I can only get 28 days worth of levothyroxine at a time, although I used to get 3months worth. Actually 28 days isn't even a months worth so I'm always in danger of running out unless I keep my wits about me (which is often a problem!)

it was much more convenient every 3 months

I get 56 days worth of both T4 and T3, but had to beg for that to be increased from 28 days. It's so annoying how they treat us like we're trying it on - if I had the choice I would gladly not bother!

Looks like I have some begging to do :)

its absolute madness but some are getting 3 months so it can be done, another wasted appointment, i will see if can get tele consultation ,

The receptionists at my surgery haven't got a brain between them and never get the messages right, I have been waiting about 8 months for my medical records Im sure they cant take that long, they called me friday to say they had them I went paid the £50 and still didn;t get them :(.

Apparently if you are prepared to wait until May 2018 they can't charge anything, for access to your own medical record

New EU ruling.

Ask for a refund. Log a complaint and ask for them in May when the new ruling says they are free. I don’t mean to be rude but sounds like you live in a place where the health care system has a lot of idiot pharmacies who can’t get your orders right and a surgery that can’t find / print records? Thankfully you’ve found this site but I worry for you. Hope your back gets a lot better. Ex

40 days is the usual limit.

I'd seriously consider putting in a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.

(At the moment they seem to be tackling Cambridge Analytica and facebook:

The UK's Information Commissioner is to apply to court for a warrant to search the offices of London-based political consulting firm, Cambridge Analytica.

The company is accused of using the personal data of 50 million Facebook members to influence the US presidential election in 2016.

The ICO probably have a full plate but that is no reason to avoid a complaint.)

I thought it was strange yesterday when I went onto System Online to re-order my levo. It was down as only 60 tablets, which would only be enough for 40 days.

It always used to be that I could order 3 months worth at a time so I looked on the packaging, multiplied it and then made a custom request for 84 totally forgetting that I actually needed 126 for 3 months.

Anyhow, I’ll find out on Friday when I collect it from the chemist.
