Iodine is found in foods, although it's also available in supplement form (potassium iodide or sodium iodide)

Read this article to learn more about iodine’s uses and health benefits, as well as foods rich in this mineral to help you prevent effects triggered by a low-iodine diet By Dr Joe Mercola.

Low iodine is rare. Supplementing iodine with Hashi's raises antibodies. Iodine is anti-thyroid.

Yes this is what I ubderstood 2.5 years ago as well. We are all bio- unique so testing not guessing is imperative.

I was terrified doing my first 24 hour Iodine loading test and ensured I had sufficient Selenium in my system supplementing for the previous approx 3 weeks, Note Selenium can be toxic if over supplemented personal due diligence is required for that. Selenium is required for the glutathione master anti-oxidant system.

I took my first Iodine loading test, our bodies should have a 90% Iodine capacity and considering I had been prescribed Levothyroxine for the previous 28 years with in range results bi annually.

I was “shocked” at how low my Iodine status was! I have repeated this test every 6 months since and in retrospect it reflects my underlying toxic load. Now I supplement a Designs for Health Iodine/Selenium combo “after testing” with dosage suggested by my Functional Nutritionist.

My personal experience has been absolutely different to what you suggest. I can emphatically say for me supplementing Iodine with Selenium or Lack of it has reflected occult infections that I was totally unaware of.

These pathogens were picked up by the GI Map (which looks at toxin genetics)Test by Invivo.

Thankfully I am reversing my symptoms, my profile is up to date so you can read what I’ve done which might be helpful?

Best Wishes

I remember being prescribed some iodine, I’m hypothyroid and on T3, and I started to get those awful mid-day tired spells when trying to wake is a battle through treacle. Never again, please. I stopped the iodine.

Yes we al react so differently. I made sure I had boosted my glutathione levels by supplementing Selenium beforehand but it still was scary doing the loading amount for the 24 hour Iodine Test.

For me iiodine has been beneficial and I’m now able to take a T3/4 combo.t

Whilst ensuring good bile, liver and kidney drainage I’ve discovered that any sluggishness in those organs Blocks T4 to T3 conversion.

Best Wishes
