Itchy throat and neck
Hi Carlo, I'm sorry you have't had an answer to your question yet, thanks for posting.
Hi Carlo, Yes I had a itchy chin primarily, fairly recently. I'm not sure what brought it about. I was trying out Sertraline for depression & stopped it Oct. 2017 because I found it too constipating. In hindsight I am sure this antidepressant interfered with my Synthroid judging from what a basket case I became afterward. I dragged myself into a Endocrinologist who switched me over to Tirosint (at the same dose as Synthroid). Interestingly the depression went away along with the itching & my sleep has greatly improved. However I've experienced a lot of fatigue I never ever had on Synthroid. The fatigue seems to have finally waxed & waned. It hasn't bothered me that much recently.
I can't say what brought about the itching improvement because I also went gluten free, dropped taking a multivitamin & over-the-counter facial skin products, increased my fluid intake, etc. I did not itch on Synthroid prior to taking Sertraline.
Thanks Clarrisa and I’m sure going gluten free has helped it certainly wouldn’t have done you any harm. I’m also gluten free even though I’m not a Coeliac and my antibodies test suggest I don’t have Hashimoto’s, my TSH lends itself to hypothyroidism.
Have you been diagnosed? If so what was your diagnosis?
I've been labeled "Hypothyroidism, unspecified type" whatever that means.
Hypo= under active
Hyper= over active
Your thyroid is possibly not producing enough hormone. Your bloods should be taken and the following measured.
T3
T4
TSH
Thyroid antibodies.
You maybe given Thyroxine to manage your under active thyroid it should replace the lack of hormone.
I have started taking thyroxine recently and hope this will resolve my condition.
All the best.
