Hi everyone, so my previous test on on the 7th read:
TSH 5.02
T4 12.4
So yesterday I was test and results read:
T3 1.7
Thyroid antibodies 12.3 both within range.
Can anyone shed any light on why my TSH is the only reading out of range ??

Carlo1984,
It helps members if you post the results with the lab ref ranges. TSH will be high if T4 and/or T3 are low in range.
Thyroid antibodies within range means you do not have autoimmune throiditis (Hashimoto's).
Hi Clutter and thanks for all your advise it really is appreciated, I thought the same and was expecting my antibodies to be high.
Do you know of other conditions where only he TSH is high ???
Carlo1984,
TSH is only relevant to thyroid conditions. High TSH indicates primary hypothyroidism.
I thought TSH could also be relevant to the Pituitary gland and associated conditions including tumours etc.
Carlo1984,
TSH = Thyroid stimulating hormone.
T4 + T3 are thyroid hormones.
TSH is relevant to the pituitary gland as the pituitary gland issues TSH when it detects low thyroid hormone levels circulating. When sufficient T4 and T3 is detected the pituitary reduces TSH.
TSH is high when T4 and T3 are low.
TSH is low when T4 and T3 levels are satisfactory or high.
Hi I'm not sure if I'm just being a bit slow on the uptake today but I don't understand what you're asking... Also, have you got the ranges (the bits in brackets after the test results) as those are needed too for anyone to interpret your results.
Generally TSH can be the first thing to be out of range if your thyroid is starting to struggle.
