Jump1,

Underactive thyroid can increase cholesterol and liver enzymes.

Gamma GT is a liver enzyme isn't it?

All my liver enzymes have been raised for over 10 years, I was hyper but hypo for last 15+ years.

I have elevated liver enzymes. Tested every 6 months.

Which ones. Only my gamma gt is elevated

ALT and GGT. GGT was the one my consultant was most worried about. They are always elevated but have calmed down a lot.

My ggt is the only one that is elevated. What level is your ggt? Mine is 42

It’s been as high as 152, last test it was 66. Yours really isn’t so bad!

Its bad enough to be retested for my likin plus i do not feel well. I read an article which said artificial sweetners can raise kt. I have been drinking lucozade sport and that has the sweetner in it. So i amno longer going to drink.it to see the result. I wamt my gamma gt levels down low. I have also really prominent terry nails. Very red red band on all nails and the rest white. I asked gp ages ago if thid was liver they sais no. It means nothing. Then my tests come back with liver problems. Hmmm

My consultant said I only had to return if my GGT went back up to 90. That’s why I keep having the six mo bloods.

Yes thry have me down for retesting. But i want to know why it is raised when it shouldnt be. And want it to go back down low. I eat well am not diabetic or overweight i exercise. I dont drink or smoke. I am going to cut out those drinks to see if that reduces it and talk to my new gp about my thyroid and treatment. I am sick of feeling sick and getting no help or treatment.

"But I want to know why it is raised"

sometimes there is no cause found, over the last 10 years I've had every test possible including a liver biopsy and nothing abnormal has been found, my last result for GGT 310 so if yours is 42 you more than likely have nothing serious going on.

Agree bantam12. Wish mine was only 42

I take milk thistle (checked with consultant) and drink nettle tea. Think they may help.
