Over the last few days whilst waiting for my period to arrive (was late at 33 days) I have been experiencing anxiety, internal shaking, tingling on my face and a band over my nose. I have also been experiencing what I thought was my migraine aura ( stroke like symptoms) but now I am not sure it was migraine. I have been thinking it was hypoglycaemia. I have been having protein snacks but the symptoms still occur. The symptoms are coming and going throughout the day. I have just been reading about Hypoglycemia and it seems that all my symptoms are on the list. I checked Hyperglycemia ( high blood sugar) and I don’t have any of those like increased thirst or urinating. I am tired though with no energy.
I had been eating quite high sugar diet in recent weeks due to stress. I feel like I have crashed a bit now and haven’t been able to get out of bed due to depression, low energy and these symptoms seemed to come on at the weekend.
I have made an appointment at the doctors but just wondering if anyone has got any idea of how to help myself now in the meantime.
I didn’t eat breakfast and I had symptoms again so I have just eaten a cheese sandwich ( all I had in house) but the symptoms don’t seem to be going. It’s a bit confusing as the diabetes websites say to eat carbohydrates but other sites say to have a protein and fat snack.
Is it the case where I have to eat small meals/ snacks through the day and it might take some time to improve? If so what is the best thing to eat?
Thanks for any advice.

Just had bloods done for thyroid. I think I could have a little increase but Endo is happy with me on 40mcg t3. I suspect he doesn’t want to rock the boat with all the recent problems. I don’t feel too bad on this dose. All other things are good. Ferritin, vit D and vit b12 etc.
I’m beginning to think it’s tied into Perimenopause. I have tested low in Estrogen Testostetone and Progesterone. Am reading about that at the moment trying to figure it all out.
I'm a Type 1 diabetic & would like offer a recommendation. Eat protein to keep blood glucose stable. Small, frequent snacks are best. Severe hypoglycemia requires fast acting sugar (a tsp jelly, jelly beans, hard candy), but it doesn't take much. People tend to overdo sugar when hypoglycemic which taxes the pancreas. Follow the fast acting sugar with some protein to prevent another drop--cheese, nuts, peanut butter, a little meat/chicken/fish. Hypoglycemia after eating, especially high carb, indicates reactive hypoglycemia, too much insulin being produced that stresses the pancreas.
Thankyou. I have been reading all about that the last few days. I have been trying the protein snacks you suggest. It helps some but still have this strange tingling over face and over bridge of nose. Someone else said that they get that from low estrogen. So I googled it and it seems tingling can be a symptom of Peri. I think it’s probably a combination of blood sugar, stress with the dropping estrogen. The regular meals is helping a little. Thankyou for your suggestions
When I'm hypoglycemic I have anxiety, feel out of it & can't think. Sometimes my lips feel numb. As a diabetic, my blood sugar goes quite low occasionally & lower than a non-diabetic. Interesting that low estrogen can cause face tingling.
