Been crashing from high blood sugar spikes if I eat anything sugary. I try to eat sugary things after a meal, which does help a bit. However, I am experiencing high blood sugar spike followed by crashing, sleeping for hours and waking up with fuzzy brain , weak physically and all round wiped out.

Hi there magnesium helps me - I use a spray before a meal and I don't fall asleep - magnesium helps with insulin control - I use Better You magnesium oil spray - wonderful product - bit messy but still great. When I was falling asleep it was like I was in a coma and could hear my husband trying to talk to me but couldn't wake up until I was ready - very frightening

Thank you

posthinking01. Exactly what I experience, like you have no control over yourself any more. I few days ago I started taking magnesium 800 mg a day. Will this do or is the magnesium oil spray more beneficial with insulin control?

Hi there - well I prefer the spray because you can anticipate and use when needed - I got hiccups the other day and knew that it was probably my body saying - magnesium low - so took some and they went.

I also take a few sprays for muscle aches - when you take a tablet it is a one off result and may not hold for mealtimes.

It is up to you but don't overdo the magnesium as it can MAKE you sleepy too - if you have a heart condition or such low metabolism then you need to be careful it doesn't take you down even further - i.e. respiration tends to relax which you wouldn't want if you have COPD etc.

Thank you posthinking01, might be worth a spray before my heaviest meal.

Perhaps you should stop eating sugary things? Sugar and carbs aren't an essential part of the human diet - only fat and protein are.

Eating lots of sugar and carbs does horrible things to me too. One particularly unpleasant thing is that I can sometimes end up with my heart rate rising to 130+. My BP also shoots up sometimes.

For help on changing to a healthier diet the DietDoctor website is worth reading :

dietdoctor.com/

It describes a "lifestyle" rather than a diet, although many people do use it to lose weight. But you can eat as much or as little as you want from the diets they describe. Losing weight isn't compulsory.

HI there - it isn't sugar per se like sweets or desserts that this happens with - just eating - as the insulin shoots into the body causing issues - and this can be because you are low on magnesium - they are connected. Also carbs are metabolised from hormones within the adrenal cortex . Nutritional medicine is fascinating stuff and I much prefer it to drug use by the UK medical profession etc.

I agree posthinking01, often the spike is the result of eating a healthy meal.

You could try berberine. I have found it to be very helpful. I take it with meals 3 times a day. Also chromium once a day.

I’d do some research with Google. Lots of brands available on Amazon.

It has helped me sleep through the night instead of waking at 4am with night sweats & palpitations.

It can upset some people’s stomach so I suggest starting slowly.

Hope this helps.
