0.3cm Thyroid nodule

should i be worried? Doctor said its not worrisome and i was send off home with no medicine or suggestion on what should i do except for to come back another 6 months to check for increase in size.... my tsh is 2.93. And also i have a slightly low blood count 11.6

I really want to know whether my ‘mild’ hypothyroid without proper medication have caused the thyroid nodule.. and is there a way to make it stop growing? But i know since its solid the chance is very low :(

For full evaluation you ideally need TSH, FT4, FT3, TT4, TPO and TG antibodies, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

Essential to test antibodies and vitamins when hypothyroidism is suspected

See if you can get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP. Unlikely to get FT3

Private tests are available

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

Low echo nodule means it is hollow or fluid filled, as more dense tissue gives a stronger echo response. Most benign nodules are fluid filled and cause no problems. Many people have fluid filled nodules that cause no problems or symptoms throughout their life. I had lots of cysts (multi-nodular goitre) for at least 10 years before unfortunately they grew and caused problems squashing my trachea. Throughout that time my thyroid function was normal and I had no symptoms.

It is unlikely that such a small cyst will cause problems but as snowdragon has suggested you need comprehensive testing to know for sure. It is entirely possible to have hashimoto’s disease and nodules together so if you have hypothyroid symptoms you will need tests. There is no research to connect sub clinical hypothyroidism with nodules. Good luck

Thank you so much. This helps ease my mind a bit. I will try getting more test for hashimoto- in fact will just walk-in to doc’s office tomorrow morning and discuss.
