If you have no thyroid activity left then kelp cannot help you. The iodine in it cannot be converted to thyroid hormone that you need. It would only be useful if you have some thyroid left working AND you are naturally iodine-deficient. If you have Hashimoto's disease, do not take iodine in any form as it can cause thyroid storms and surges that are very unpleasant and can be life-threatening.

A range of blood tests maybe ?

Ideally you should have an echogram to discover what your thyroid looks like - is it wizened completely? That plus blood tests would answer the problem.

"do NOT buy any foods that aren't organic"

Well, yes, of course we are all in a position to be able to afford organic food and have easy access to it!!!

Unfortunately I live in the real world, am on a pension, live on my own, and live in a place where there is one small expensive supermarket that might sell organic bananas occasionally but does sell organic milk. With no car and very limited rural transport and a 3 hour bus ride to a bigger town with choice of shops, then a 3 hour bus ride back, it's not really an option for me.

After much experimentation kelp is poorly used if you don’t have everything else in place - my plan is to keep to a low dose of levo and use supplements to boost t3 conversion - working a treat If you want a list of what is working I will emal

I now realise the biggest issue with hashis is poor hormone management especially estrogen clearing via the liver- once you take all the items to address this progress is remarkedly rapid - I am able to start reducing Levo shortly

Summary - find the right battle to fight :)
