Diagnosis: I have been back and forward to dr... - Thyroid UK
Diagnosis
I'm just about to log off as 11pm is my limit (!) but your B12 and ferritin are very low - ferritin should be at least 70 for thyroid hormone to work (our own or replacement) and B12 above 500.
Your FT4 is very low compared to your FT3 - do you take any thyroid replacement hormone?
Anti-bodies ? Perhaps they need testing ....
Your B12 is very low so your GP should run test for Pernicious Anaemia before starting on B12 injections
Ferritin is also very low and you need full iron panel to test for Anaemia
Both these can be problems in their own right or as result of having autoimmune thyroid disease. (Hashimoto's)
GP should test for raised Thyroid antibodies - TPO and TG antibodies
Also ask that they check vitamin D too. Very common to be too low as well
I had thought hashimoto before and both my plasma visocity and c protein are up which shows infection. I also twice in last 6 months have come out in petachaea
If you test positive for Hashimoto's at any time in past that means the cause is Hashimoto's.
Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working
Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Got my vit d result today which says im severely depleted.
So has GP prescribed loading dose vitamin D?
Look up your local CCG guidelines on vitamin D deficiency

Has you had test for Pernicious Anaemia before first Vitamin B12 injections.
Insist they run coeliac and thyroid antibodies tests
Thank you
