If TSH is suppressed through taking levothyroxine does the thyroid release any direct T3 or does it stop? Anyone know the answer or point me to an answer?

Nanaedake, if your TSH is suppressed then there is no stimulation of your thyroid. All of the hormone in your body is being supplied by the levothyroxine. Your enzymes in the liver and other tissues should be knocking one iodine off the thyroxine in order to create T3.

Ok, thanks. I thought that was the case but my doctor was unsure. So in that case, people treated for thyroid cancer whether with a partial thyroid or without a thyroid are in the same boat, totally reliant on external thyroid hormone supplies and cellular conversion of T4 to T3.
