Hi... Almost 4 months after TT and neck dissection due to papillary cancer and a month after RAI my Thyroglobulin has come back at 184 (0 - 20 ku.l). Is this usual?

Lindsaydawson603,

It's high. I'm wondering whether your thyroglobulin has been tested too soon. Mine wasn't tested until 3 or 4 months after my follow up RAI whole body scan which was 5 months after RAI and 11 months after thyroidectomy. My thyroglobulin was 12 and thyroglobulin antibodies <20. Subsequent Tg is <0.1 and TgAb <20.

Not sure... Due to a mix up I had it tested again last Monday, the 22nd Jan - so this tesult might be more accurate. Will have to wait and see x

Lindsaydawson603,

I'm not questioning the accuracy of the test but how long it takes for thyroglobulin to fall after surgery and RAI. If the timing is appropriate then they should check whether thyroglobulin antibodies might be interfering with the thyroglobulin result.
