Mjm192,
TSH is high which usually indicates hypothyroidism but I looked back at your posts and FT4 was 24 almost top of the range which doesn't indicate hypothyroidism.
Have thyroid antibodies been tested yet?
Hi can you explain please as I have been told that I do need medication I a sleeping all the time dizzy spells pain in neck and cramps and itching not eating feeling sick hurt all over
Yes waiting for results but have just been told I have chronic kidney disease stage 3
Thank for your help
Mjm192,
It's not clear to me whether you do need medication.
High TSH would normally indicate that FT4 and FT3 are low and thyroid replacement would be required to raise them but your FT4 is at the top of range so FT4 is not low.
If that was your first abnormal TSH it is possible it was elevated due to a virus or infection so you should be retested after 2-3 months when a virus would be expected to have resolved.
If you have high TSH and high FT4 on your next thyroid test your GP should refer you to endocrinology for investigation. High TSH and high FT4 can indicate resistance to thyroid hormone or TSHoma which is a benign TSH secreting adenoma.
Thank you for your reply but I don't understand the things you are saying
I have just been told I have chronic kidney disease stage 3
I feel so bad and unwell I am sleeping up to 14 hours a day and More on other days I have even fell asleep standing up
All my B12 is low and I also have PA can you please try and explain what it is please
Thank you so much
Marcelle
Mjm192,
Bottom line is I've said I don't know whether or not you need thyroid medication and have tried to explain why I think that and what I think you need to do.
I suggest you Google "Stage 3 kidney disease" to find out whether your symptoms are due to kidney disease or medication. It's not something I know anything about.
PA causes B12 deficiency. You should be having 2-3 monthly B12 injections if you have PA.
