Hallo everyone am looking for some stories to relate to. I have been diagnosed with high hypothyroidism in July my TSH was 100 at that moment I had none of the symptoms except for one which was stopped period.i was hurried to start the medication levothyroxine 100 mcg, after taking for a month and a half my period returned which means ovulation was restored. every six weeks i have blood test and every second test am getting hyper so my dosage is constantly decreasing from 100 to 88 now started 75. my antibody was negative. no other problem was found. I have changed my diet is that the factor which is helping is there any hope i could finally come of it since am still young? cant wait to hear your stories

About 30 years ago I was diagnosed with the highest levels of thyroid hormone ever recorded at that hospital. I was put onto Neomercazole Tablets for a year, which reduced my levels of thyroid hormone symptoms like rapid heart beat, but I sometimes wish I hadn't taken the medication, as have had a weight problem ever since, & can hardly eat anything without immediate gain! I wonder if anyone else has had similar experience?

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested too?

Your case sounds unusual.

In what way have you changed your diet?

Yeah you are right I hear different stories but nothing like mine and I was wondering why mine was different. I have all the tests you mentioned done but everything came back normal. I eat all bio very less gluten and dairy. A lot more fruits, vegetables, fish specially salmon and seaweeds I also take a couple of Brazil nuts in everyday basis.

I would be cautious about too much iodine (in seaweed)

Dod you change diet before or after thyroid went haywire?

Hi - nhs doesn't normally treat after just one raised test, as some viruses, infections, etc can cause a raised tsh without any underlying thyroid condition. Hence the normal protocol is to test again 3 months after a single raised level to ensure it is actually genuine hypo. It sounds possible that this was your situation and time is now rectifying the high level.

Thankyou for your comment this gave me a good idea even if am pretty sure my problem was thyroid. A year before my highest TSH result my Tsh was 4.2 which at that moment was not treated. but you are right my thyroid is maybe healing itself somehow.
