About 30 years ago I was diagnosed with the highest levels of thyroid hormone ever recorded at that hospital. I was put onto Neomercazole Tablets for a year, which reduced my levels of thyroid hormone symptoms like rapid heart beat, but I sometimes wish I hadn't taken the medication, as have had a weight problem ever since, & can hardly eat anything without immediate gain! I wonder if anyone else has had similar experience?
Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested too?
Your case sounds unusual.
In what way have you changed your diet?
Yeah you are right I hear different stories but nothing like mine and I was wondering why mine was different. I have all the tests you mentioned done but everything came back normal. I eat all bio very less gluten and dairy. A lot more fruits, vegetables, fish specially salmon and seaweeds I also take a couple of Brazil nuts in everyday basis.
Hi - nhs doesn't normally treat after just one raised test, as some viruses, infections, etc can cause a raised tsh without any underlying thyroid condition. Hence the normal protocol is to test again 3 months after a single raised level to ensure it is actually genuine hypo. It sounds possible that this was your situation and time is now rectifying the high level.
