Happy New Year Everyone!

Just a quick question...does anyone take their NDT sublingually?

Has it work for you?

Kind regards

Some people seem to try to do so but it is impossible for the tongue to absorb the molecules of NDT as they are too large to be absorbed by the tongue.

Therefore they have to be taken first thing on an empty stomach with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eating. Food interferes with the uptake of thyroid hormones.

If we begin NDT, we start on a dose and every two weeks afterwards we can add 1/4 tablet until we feel much better and are symptom-free. If either pulse/temp goes high we reduce to previous dose.

We also have to make sure B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate have to be optimum as deficiencies will also cause symptoms.

p.s. I am not medically qualified and have hypothyroidism, which was not diagnosed by the medical profession but was given plenty of diagnosis of which I had none (I eventually found out).

Thanks for your very informative response shaws. I have tried to take it sublingually but it takes forever to dissolve. I will stick to taking it in the morning.

Kind regards
