I was prescribed WP recently, and tried all of those pharmacies on the list.None of them had it,and all said they were unable to obtain it. I had to return to the Endo for her to prescribe Nature Throid, which I then obtained from S Pharmacy. The alternative could have been to get online from a pharmacy in CA USA.

Thanks, that's worrying. Will have to ring around after bank hol. Hope Naturethroid works for you.

I decided to try alternative routes. The Wp website lists international pharmacies they supply and I have ordered from there (without prescription in this case). Will see if it turns up!

Where in the UK is there a Dr willing to prescribe natural thyroid? I have found NHS docs totally against it! Have looked on line, but can't find one in England.

Many thanks

I have recently turned to self medicating after reading the book, 'What you doctor won't tell you about Hypothyroidism.' I get NDT from a US online pharmacy. Found it by searching Armour desiccated thyroid. My NHS Endo says he cannot prescribe it but approves of the protocol from the book and happy to monitor me and genuinely wants to know the outcome.

I recommend steering clear of Erfa Thyroid and finding as many reviews as possible before choosing a brand. I had amazing results on Westhroid but they were out of stock when returned to reorder and assumed they were all the same. On Erfa, started having symptoms hadn't had since I was first diagnosed 14 years ago with TSH at eighty-four point something. Found out that lots of people have begun having problems with Erfa after taking it for years. Apparently, they moved factory a year ago or so.

Just received my new shipment of Westhroid three days ago. Next time they are out of stock, I will wait until back in stock or try Nature thyroid made by the same lab company, RLC. Labs, with an excellent reputation from what I can find. Good luck.

Hello

I have just read your post that you posted about one year ago. Can you say if you are still taking Westhroid, if so how are you doing on it?

I am thinking of researching where the best place (without prescription) to order it from, any of your help greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

K

I had to go private to see an Endocrinologist. You can ,of course,be referred to an NHS one (they all usually do both NHS and their private clinics), but I couldn't be sure that the NHS one would "think outside the box" regarding trying alternatives from Levothyroxine like NDT. I put a question on this site asking for recommendations in my area and that's how I came to know of my Endo. You could do the same. Good luck!

Not one single NHS GP I have known is wiling to prescribe NDT. In fact, they invariably pretend they have never even heard of it. When I explain and say they can prescribe it by putting 'named patient' on the prescription, they are not in the least bit interested. In fact they are hostile. I got a prescription for NDT from a lovely private endo, but it cost a fortune to fill.

It was easy to obtain Naturethroid from the USA without a prescription. Not sure if I am allowed to give the website: <pharmacy name> If not try Googling 'naturethroid without a prescription'.

Just my personal experience. You will be very lucky if you find a GP willing to prescribe NDT on the NHS - it just seems to anatagonise them all the more if you show any initiative. But I could be wrong so good luck!

Thank you so much for your helpful replies. I will look at the link mentioned. I have had the same negative response, in fact, I thought the GP was going to explode, he was so angry that I asked to natural thyroid. I asked for a referral to a consultant endo a few years ago when I was having major problems with fibroids and thyroid and knew there was a connection. Sadly, the endo was baffled by my questions and actually took me OFF Levothyroxine altogether! Needless to say, I became extremely ill (THS "over 95") but it still took 2 senoir GP's and one locum junior to eventually put me back on synthetic thyroxine.

I realise I'm going to have to pay for the treatment I want, but it's still finding a Dr with the experience to get the dosage right and be interested in the well being of the patient!

I have now started Dr. Brownstein's iodine protocol and supporting vitamin and mineral programme, but still feel I need a natural source of thyroxine including T3. Perhaps it'll take a GP or two to have the hypothyroid experience for themselves, to get them to take notice and prescribe a better way to manage this condition?

Pity Dr Barry Peatfield-Durrent is no longer practicing. Did he not have anyone in the wings to take over his work?

Kangagirl This site you shared  doesn't seem to ship to the USA?

The original question was for the UK.

The pharmacy mentioned (and now removed in line with our guidelines) is located in the USA and cannot ship without prescription within the USA.

I have given up waging war with ignorant and arrogant GPs, I just don't have the heart or the energy any more. Why they have to be so aggressive I don't know, (massive egos? tiny body parts? control freaks?) - Who knows, I could say much worse. So much for the rule of 'first do no harm' and aren't they supposed to 'include' patients in discussions and decisions about their treatment, and 'treat them with respect'? That WILL be the day.

I may have been unlucky with my GPs, there may be some out there who are different. It's very cruel that we have to flap about searching for treatment when we least feel able to do it, when we KNOW there are alternatives to the ubiquitous Levothyroxine, which apparently cures everything, but as we know often doesn't. Good luck x

I've got this with a prescription from my doctor (private not NHS and sourced through TUK's doctors list) and got it from Pulteney Pharmacy in Bath: pulteneypharmacy.co.uk/

I was able to go in and collect my prescription, so I don't know if they post out prescriptions, perhaps ask them? I know the price they charged me for a 100 tablet bottle was very competitive with other pharmacies.
