What does it mean if your tsh is suppressed at 0.16 and your t4 has dropped to low (12) but within range.
On 75mg of levo thyroxine
Thanks

Chaca,
TSH is low, and below range, but is not suppressed. FT4 needs to be near mid range or there will be insufficient T4 for conversion to T3. Raising dose to increase FT4 will suppress your TSH but you won't be overmedicated as long as FT3 remains within range. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Thank you clutter. My t4 has dropped since starting levo it was 14 in September. I was on 125mg but endo said to drop back to 75mg as tsh was 0.01. Does that mean I should be increasing my t4? Endo wants me to repeat bloods and I think he might check t3 levels
Chaca,
Well, reducing from 125mcg to 75mcg will be why FT4 has dropped so much, so yes, I would say Levothyroxine dose needs increasing even if TSH becomes suppressed.
What time of day was this test done? TSH is highest early in the morning, and drops throughout the day, and after eating. So, a 5 pm it will be a lot lower than at 7 am, whilst the FT4 will be pretty much the same.
