You were able to conceive so that is good but he should figure out a treatment for you quickly. From what I've read the baby will have its own metabolism separate from yours but I would think yours should be monitored so the pregnancy goes well. I don't have any medical experience though. Try to eat very nutrient dense food and avoid gluten.

Welcome to the forum, Suman25.

It's not okay to have high TSH when pregnant as it increases the risk of miscarriage and the foetus is entirely dependent on maternal hormone until 12 weeks. Your GP should prescribe Levothyroxine ASAP. The British Thyroid Association recommends the TSH of women in the first trimester should be 0.4 - 2.5.

Management of primary hypothyroidism: statement by the British Thyroid Association Executive Committee

The serum TSH reference range in pregnancy is 0·4–2·5 mU/l in the first trimester and 0·4–3·0 mU/l in the second and third trimesters or should be based on the trimester-specific reference range for the population if available. These reference ranges should be achieved where possible with appropriate doses of L-T4 preconception and most importantly in the first trimester (1/++0). L-T4/L-T3 combination therapy is not recommended in pregnancy (1/+00).

Suman25,

You need to see your GP and get Levothyroxine prescribed as soon as possible because high TSH increases the risks of miscarriage.

Suman25,

I really don't understand why your doctor is delaying. TSH will be high because T4 and/or T3 are low and that is why Levothyroxine replacement should be prescribed. Levothyroxine won't hurt your baby.
