I'm assuming that you've been assessed for both diabetes type 2 or Sjogren's Syndrome (another auto-immune condition)?

The other obvious enquiries would be if you've started a new medication or mouthwash?
Hi Blackprecious I was diagnosed with Sjogrens many years ago, although I believe it can be a symptom of hypothyroidism too. I used to use an artificial saliva spray called Glandosane, which I used to get on prescription, but is available from most chemists. It is helpful, but I also find that coconut oil is very effective, especially at night as it seems to lubricate for longer. Also keep checking for oral thrush, especially if your mouth feels sore as that is more common in dry mouth conditions. I think there's a chewing gum as well, but make sure it only contains stevia or natural sweeteners ~ can't remember the name of it ~ hypo brain fog!! I put my coconut oil in a small screw top travel container like a lip balm so I can take it out with me.
Good luck ~ it's really annoying I know. Mamapea x
Try slightly upping your thyroid medication temporarily to see if that helps. My wife used to periodically get a very dry mouth which she was able to eliminate by taking an extra 25mcg T4 for a few days. It works for her so it may be worth a try. Nowadays, she avoids the problem altogether by taking an extra 25mcg T4 tablet once a week, which seems to stop the dry mouth developing. I have no idea why it works - it just does, for her at least.
Hi Blackprecious, I have thyroid and sjogrens diagnosis. The dry mouth is not pleasant, especially when flare up of symptoms. There are a number of OTC products available to help saliva.. though, my best find has been Omega7 sold as SeaBuckthorn Holland and Barrett. Helps with increasing moisture all glands.
Good luck.
I also have Sjogrens and am Hypothyroid. I have my own teeth still and use OraMedMD from Trusted Health Products USA It has sweet almond, spearmint and peppermint essential oils and keeps my mouth moisturised longer. I also chew gum a lot to stimulate saliva. It is important to stimulate saliva to keep those glands working better. Having food that has dressings of some sort ( gravy, mayo etc) helps as well. I am on Whole Thyroid Extract which suits my system better. It is a real balancing act to keep everything comfortable and working. Good luck. Spice
my doctor prescribes saliva tables which are really good
thank you so much i will take up your advice
