Hi everyone, hope you are all doing ok! I'm just posting to have a bit of a moan I'm afraid.
I get a fair few private messages asking advice.. usually about switching to NDT and I am always happy to respond and try to offer advice. However it really irritates me if, after having done that, folk don't respond to say they've received my message. I don't expect to be showered with gratitude but a simple acknowledgement would be nice! Also, can people fill in their profile as it doesn't feel right responding to people I know nothing about and have never posted before?
That's all... sorry for being grumpy!! π

Most people acknowledge the PM help I give but for those who don't, it's rude innit!
I don't share sources with people who have no history or profile. I ask them to write a post on the forum including some background such as how long they've been diagnosed, recent thyroid results and ranges and current meds/dose.
I think you've every right to be 'grumpy'. If you're advising others or at least talking, a simple 'thanks' is all it takes. Maybe they haven't opened their emails or messages yet?
You are not being unreasonable at all. It's common courtesy to acknowledge and thank people for advice and the effort they expended to give it. Sadly some people don't seem to know this. The effect is to make helpful people less willing to help.
You're not being grumpy. I get quite a few PMs too asking for advice, give lengthy and informative replies then not even a quick "Thanks". Very rude I think.
I believe you should at least say thanks for any help, if members on the forum are happy to give up there time to answer questions it is the least you can do.
Odd that your reply appeared on my gmail which i do not recall using on this site in fact i only use it to forward pics from Picasa and as as a destination to reset hotmail so I do not normally look at it. ,had another reply this am on my usual hotmail account.
Personally not thanking and acknowledging the person you ask your questions from is out right rude . They are taking their time to answer your questions than please take the time to give them a big thank you for helping you out and for taking their time to do so . It's only elementary .
Manners cost nothing but mean everything. I can honestly say when I had enquiries to make regarding thyroid. I posted and the quick very informative response I got was nothing I would have ever got from drs. I was exceptionally greatful and still am I gained knowledge I never had before. I just want to thank you all again and I thank you all for being so kind and sharing your wisdom with others. It's sad that ppl don't show manners it really is something that gets my back up.
(When you give someone way when driving and they don't raise their hand or acknowledge in any way) that really winds me up.
Good you put this post out there your not being grumpy just reminding those that manners cost nothing and means everything.
I totally get where you are coming from and l am sorry to hear you were treated like that. You are humans not a FAQ list. I truly hope l have always thanked people. I have not done Bio. Felt too ill and weak from thyroid and B12 issues Also just had hideous needle biopsies into both breasts yesterday and 8 mammograms on each breast, Lumps found you see. Can't move arms much but will do bio ASAP Just wanted to say l appreciate all the help l have had on here.
Thanks Could be cancer but hoping just lumps as I have had several before. Tried Lugols as I was told I was low in Iodine. Upset my innards. Might try again
Thanks Heloise. Yes 2 drops in water after doing an iodine patch test as instructed. It disappeared faster than man/doc had ever seen before which apparently means I am very low. But since then due to brilliant advice from folks on here I have seen GP and had 6 loading doses of B12 so wonder if I might do better if I try again. Worth a try do you think? Maggi
