WP Thyroid

Hi can anyone help. I had radio iodine treatment just over a year ago and subsequently became hypo. Needless to say I was prescribed Levothyroxine in ever increasing doses, starting at 75mcg but increasing every three months until I got to 150mcg. This medication made me feel dreadful. It gave me extreme insomnia so much so that I couldn't function and had to take days off work and also terrible itching. I have a great G.P here in the U.K who was willing to write a private prescription for W.P thyroid which was fulfilled by a pharmacy in Lancashire.I have been taken this medication for several months and am now starting to feel far better and my sleeping patterns have begun to regulate however stocks of W.P thyroid (I take 2 1/2 grains) seem to have run out in the U.K and I cant seem to find it anywhere as apparently RLC labs have re located. This has meant that I have had to go back on Levo with exactly the same symptoms returning - chronic insomnia and terrible itching. Can anyone please advise?

NatureThroid is probably the next best NDT but it is also in short supply. You could contact your pharmacy and see whether they have it in stock. If not ask your GP to write a prescription for Armour or Acella NP.

Check out Thyro Gold. I could not afford the other NDTs that are available, as they would have cost half my total income. Or look to buy T3 from abroad (open a new thread for advice where to buy, PM only) for a short term solution whilst WP comes available.

There are many of us in the same boat. I have visions of women all over the world quietly going dolally while looking at their emptly WP bottles, which somehow helps my few remaining grey cells.

Thanks Seren although im a man with thyroid problems and most advice seems to be aimed at ladies. Where can I buy thyro gold please and does it come in different strengths (grains)?
