The above says it all.. been underactive since my teens after contracting glandular fever... prescribed levothyroxine and told to get on with it... teens, twenties, thirties, forties symptoms not to bad liveable apart from heavy periods.. but when I hit my 50s WHAM I have never felt so poorly ...nausea, balance issues, no sleep awake all night.. aching muscles headaches and occasional migraine... sometimes bed bound. After many trips to the doctors..i went to a private endo at the beginning of this year and asked to be put onto A NATURAL THYROID REPLACEMENT, was prescribed NatureThroid 2 grains straight away... I was on 150mcg levo,, felt terrible..after blood tests results decided to take B12, vit D3 &K2 and magnesium this has helped with balance and aches, however still feel nausea's and also feel that 10 months on NT hasn't really changed my symptoms at all... just emptied my purse very quickly... fed up of blood test's and getting nowhere and feeling terrible. Just sent for Blue Horizon test, thyroid plus 11 to see what's going on... just want to be me again... long battle ...Sorry to be so downbeat... I want to wish all you lovely ladies out there a Very Happy Christmas 2017.

Welcome to the forum, Christinah61.

Post your Blue Horizon blood test results and ranges when you get them and members will advise whether you are optimally dosed on 3 grains.

Christinah61,

Leave 8-12 hours between last dose of NT and blood test. Stop supplementing biotin or supplements containing biotin a week before blood tests.

You should do the blood test at the very earliest and fasting although you can drink water. This helps keep the TSH at its highest as it drops throughout the day.

Sorry to hear you are having problems, but in the earlier days when you found out you had thyroid problems you were just given a dose to take and left to get on with it. The same thing happened to me, was found I had a underactive thyroid at about the age of six after a lot of pushing by my mum. Left to get on with it throughout my school days. I understand very much what you are going through, have been on thyroxine for over 60 yrs. best of luck and hope you will be feeling better soon.

elwins and Christinah61 . I too was diagnosed Hypothyroid with a TSH of 75, but had felt awful all through my childhood. I too was given levo (T4) only when diagnosed but always felt worse on it than before even taking it. Fourteen years later I discovered that I can only take T3 to feel well. Hypo patients are being chucked T4 only, and left to get on with their lives, despite continually returning to their GP complaining of a whole myriad of symptoms. It never seems to be connected to the Hypothyroid condition. I have wasted literally hundreds of hours of GPs' time, just by them not looking deeper into my hypothyroid condition. Keep on pushing Christina - you have your early Xmas present - your Blue Horizon test and I'm sure it will show you what is happening in your thyroid / body.

Hi to all my lovely friends I hope you all had a wonderful xmas. Unfortunately I spent my Christmas day in bed feeling dreadful all the lovely thyroid symptoms have stopped me again enjoying my Christmas. I have a new blue horizon kit and I am planning on doing my test on Tuesday 2nd Jan 2018 when most are back to normal work, this time I know exactly what to do and will not mess this one up...need to know why I am feeling so poorly all the while, seeing my 31 year old son crying at the bottom of my bed because I cannot get up to make Dinner, open presi's etc. it was heartbreaking...when Mum are you going to feel well???? Not for want of trying spent most of 2017 with endo, trying NDT instead of Levo but hey getting nowhere.... so I will post my results when I get them back from BH and go from there.

Happy New Year to All

Christina X
