I was diagnosed 6 months ago ( although it's been at least 3 years ) and take 50mg levo at the moment , I had a tooth removed on Thursday and have been unwell ever since ? My jaw feels broken and I'm really run down ,, I've since read that your dentist needs to do a risk assessment before any work if you have hypothyroidism? Is this true ?

A risk assessment for what ? As a qualified dental nurse I've never heard of that before, yes you should update your medical history each year and tell the dentist of any changes and it's wise to ask for any local anaesthetic to be adrenaline free as many people find the adrenaline affects them.

If you are having problems other than the usual healing discomfort then you are best to go back to be checked.

Which tooth was extracted and was it upper or lower ? If it was a difficult extraction you are bound to feel some bruising and soreness but if you feel something is not right go back for a check.

You need to go back if it's that bad, you may have a dry socket which needs treating.

once the treatment starts to work it should get better fairly quickily, presumably you have further appts to get the dressing changed ? Just go carefully on that side.

Yes it's true and always have a thyroid collar put on before any X rays are taken.

Really I've never heard of it ?

If you have any problems with your thyroid it is a good protection against radiation. I ask before I make the appointment and make sure the surgery has one ready beforehand.
