I'd started selenium in an attempt to bring antibodies down (I'm following Isabella Wentz The Hashimoto Protocol) but then I realised that she says in a previous book that you should have your iodine tested before doing so, so I've stopped again.
Is this the case?
If it does need to be tested in order to make sure it's not very deficient (and what would that look like?), what type of test would be appropriate? I've seen iodine urinary tests (Genova) but also blood tests (Medichecks).
Thanks for your help!

Genova Urine Iodine Test END25 (non loading test) gives your existing levels. The results come as a graphic with a scale of 100-199, your result will be plotted on the scale.
I have done it twice, once to get a base level and then a few months after taking a practioner recommended Multi supplement which contained iodine. The second test showed my level had increased quite a bit.
I've not done the blood test so can't really comment, but I was recommended the urine test as the best one to do and by doing the two tests it has indeed shown a difference in level when I was taking a multi that contained it.
