Dear Wise, Kind Forumites,
Having moved to Scotland earlier this year, I've been now struggling with NHS to stay on my stable, good therapies. The very nice GP, whose hands are tied, has said he could send me a letter of referral, to one of the following endos for a private consultation, but which should I ask for? I live in Fife so all these are far away, pretty equally.
--At Spire Murrayfield, Dr Adamson, Dr Jaap, Dr Toft, Professor McKnight.
--At Fernbrae: no names given but GP says he can refer if I ask for a name.
The choice might depend on who is used to treating my pattern of illness, yes? I am stable and pretty well on 100mcg levo plus 25-50 T3 (alt day doses, it averages out to about 37/day), with HRT compounded creams and various vitamins [magnesium, D3, B-complex, multi], plus gluten and dairy reduction (not perfectly free of them but very reduced). (I actually feel better when on T3 only, but am being obedient for the moment). I also have lupus (SLE, very well controlled on 400mg plaquenil).
Does anyone have experiences with any of these endos, or can you advise on how to make this decision? Please PM me if appropriate to stay within posting guidelines. Thank you in advance for your help and counsel. --A.
