Under active and really bad indegestion
Have you any recent bloods and ranges you can post? You may not be correctly managed sobthecswelling could be your thyroid hanging onto all it its given as it feels it's not getting enough.
i have to take enzymes with all meals....which is common with thyroid patients...low stomach acid....which causes that....as well as what silver fox said
I can really relate to this one. I was bothered by this for years and it was scary. The attacks would come on out of nowhere and the pain and the throat spasms sent my anxiety through the roof too. I always had to carry rennies on me as it was the only thing that stopped the throat spasm. I found it was worse when i was stressed about something. I think there is a hormonal connection as i found going through menopause made it worse. Low thyroid may have played a part but my hormones were a mess and one caused the other. My estrogen levels have dropped and that seems to have helped settle the problem as my estrogen level was far too high compared to progesterone. If your hormones are out of balance that may be the problem. It used to feel like a heart attack when the spasm in my throat happened and my family thought it was crazy the way i reacted to the spasm they just couldn't understand the severe pain and the panic i was in.
The issue could be low stomach acid, that's exacerbated by antacids.
Have you tried taking apple cider vinegar, or eating some fruit before meals?
Agree with badhare. Sounds like it is low stomach acid, it feels like you have too much acid. I take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water after evening meal. You also need to take betane hydrochloride with pepsin if you eat protein to help digest it. Really you need more acid in your stomach to digest food. if I don’t take apple cider vinegar for two days, I start to have symptoms and I cough more. Good luck
I had that as apparently we can have low stomach acid.
Short term relief I take bisodol tablets that you can get in most supermarkets and chemists.
Long term relief I've needed to change my diet. I cook everything from scratch.
Things that seem to trigger it are:-
Anything spicy, curry, chilli etc. also red wine. Chocolate and white bread
The only good news is that two bisodol tablets seem to work after 20 minutes
Hi Ajwag
I suffered with this in the past. Had prescription lansaprazole from GP at first. However, I discovered that the problem was low acid, not high and started using apple cider vinegar as others have described above. I also had a Gi effects test done ( nothing major wrong found) to look at my Microbiome prior to a full on, gut restoration programme, based on the book 'The Microbiome Diet' which details everything you need to do this.
Since then I have continued to use digestive enzymes, which come in a capsule that has all the enzymes needed to digest all food types. For some reason I steered away from betaine hydrochoride and I can't remember why. There is also another product, 'bitters' which I also found helpful at the time, (not as good as the ACV for me though) although not a nice taste.
Maybe as a result of the gut restoration work, these days I very rarely have a problem ( don't know how this font changed however?!) unless I eat loads of fatty food and then the enzymes settle it all down quite rapidly.
ACV is available in all supermarkets, the enzymes will have to be sourced online
I think I have been successful at managing this particular aspect of my health but obviously we are all different. I hope some of the above is helpful for you
As it is the 1st of December and Xmas Carols are playing in my house, I think its time;
MERRY XMAS
If you do a google search on acv there should be masses of info on how to use it. I started taking a teaspoon in half a glass of water and I had no issues, other than an immediate reduction in discomfort. To put your mind at rest, that its right for you, do a bit of research. There are some people who don't agree with using it but it suited me fine. I can't comment on the papaya enzyme as I didn't come across it. I made a beeline for the product I now use because it was recommended in the book I used ( or something very like it). It is a broad spectrum, all vegetarian blend, which has something in it for all food groups. 🙂
