The Medicines Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has launched a social media campaign to promote reporting of suspected side effects from over-the-counter medicines.

From 20-24 November, MHRA is running a social media campaign to promote recognition and reporting of suspected side effects from over-the-counter medicines, as part of an EU-wide awareness week.

Not being a member of facebook or twitter, the "social media" side of this has passed me by, so have only just noticed it posted by HU! Even though we have passed the technical end of campaign, please EVERYONE consider putting in reports as appropriate.

Remember, you merely have to suspect that there has been some issue. You don't have to be certain. You don't have to prove anything.

Would my GP or doctors have done this when I reported adverse reactions?

Doctors seem very poor at making such reports. They might be more on the ball for serious side effects.

It is probably best to make no assumptions about what might have been reported - just go ahead and do it yourself.

Are 3 & 12 years ago too late?

12 years probably is. I do not know about three years but, obviously, focus would be on current and future issues. You could just start making a report and see if the system accepts it!

The last two issues were reported to my pain management doctor, & also my GP who advised never ever to take anything like that again, though other doctors are still pushing this type of medication. Sigh... :-s
