I posted earlier asking about Erfa , my daughter swapped from Armour for cost reasons ! I can see there were issues a few years ago , do you think these have been resolved ? My daughter says it smells horrible and unfortunately 6 weeks down the line a bad return in hypo symptoms !

Interested to know how many members take or have used Erfa !
What dose of Erfa does your daughter take? This is a past post which may be helpful.
I took Erfa during 10 years, I paid $19.00 for 100 tablets and in August the pharmacy told me that the price(prize) had increased in $92.00 for the same quantity. As Thyroid Erfa is not covered by the assurance of the government, I turned to Thyroid-s.
Val I'm not sure if you saw my reply to your other question about ERFA, I took it for a few years and loved it, but had a very bad reaction to a new batch just after they moved country of manufacture. Most of us who were badly affected switched to other brands, and only those who still got on with it continued to take it, therefore the reports about it are getting fewer. The reports which are still appearing are from people like your daughter who are new to it, so cannot compare it to how it used to be, but are finding it inconsistent from batch to batch.

Did you have severe hypo symptoms ? She was fine on Armour just trying to make it a bit cheaper , Endo suggested to try ...it’s like she is back to square 1 when first diagnosed , not able to work ! Blood test today and then back to Armour quick I think ... Endo hasn’t heard or. Naturevthroid Thyroid S ...hopeless isn’t it ...you’d think specialist would look into forums like this and be open to other products !!!
I'm not surprised that the endo hasn't heard of Thyroid-S or Nature-Throid, my GP used to call them homeopathics! I have finally found an endo who agrees that I have a thyroid problem and will prescribe for me, and I can't quite believe it
I didn't take the new ERFA for long enough to get a return of symptoms because I got an immediate reaction of digestive problems, palpitations, dizziness and a feeling of being drugged for about 12 hours when I took the first dose from a new batch. I searched the internet to find out what had happened and found two others with the same reaction I had to the same batch. The other two had got theirs at different places from me, one Canada the other Finland. All three of us turned out to be very sensitive to certain meds and we decided something had either been added which disagreed with us, but not everyone, or a filler was being added in different, varying amounts.
The ERFA company were adamant that none of the ingredients had changed but wouldn't say if the proportions of fillers had changed. One person eventually reported them to Health Canada for inconsistency in manufacture. The adverse reports that came in were about symptoms returning, blood test results being all over the place and general inconsistency of dose between batches in the same grain tablets. Just like your daughter!
I am now taking Nature-Throid and just trying out WP (more expensive) but there are shortages of both so that doesn't help you. Going back to Armour is the most sensible thing for your daughter, then try out Nature-Throid or WP once the shortages are over.
Oh and the ERFA shouldn't smell odd! That doesn't sound good.
Thankyou very much for your reply ... yes it does seem that there is something not right with the dose and the smell she will have the blood test soon and hopefully it will throw a light on it .. really wished we had not messed with Armour ...if it’s not broke don’t fix it !!!!
I take Thyroid 60mg (Erfa) and am very stable and pleased with it. Not sure if you meant the Armour was smelly or Thyroid but mine doesn’t smell at all.
I also take 60mg erfa and it costs £60.61 for 4 months supply. It is not smelly at all. Have been taking erfa for a few months and the improvement in my health is enormous. Was previously on 100 mcg levo for years and I was totally miserable, weak, tired , in pain, massive hair loss and many other symptoms as levo did nothing for me as I am a poor converter of t4 to T3. It was thanks to this site that I realised that, and then did something about it 😊.
Do you require less Erfa
To levo?
I’m 68 and felt unwell all my life..diagnosed about aged 40 with hashimotos...levothyroxine neve worked...up down up down..the usual scenarioo..then I progressed in my understanding..read a lot ..had D102 test which shows poor conversion of t4 to t3...saw private doc and started on Erfa.
Still no better....moved to Armour...
Still no better...moved to WP Thyroid...seeing this seemed to be the best you could get..purest and least likely to cause problems.
Still no better,.....
Paid for private adrenal stress test...,took results to well known private doctor....test showed poor adrenal function...he recommended Adrenavive 11 ......
Have been taking this for some months now and at last I know I’ve hit upon a good part of the problem and the solution.
I now realise the never ending ups and downs of feeling etc were due to adrenals not being right.
I’m still on this journey but feel I’m getting there....it still takes time and great patience in the use of the adrenal and the thyroid meds...but it’s worth it.
One other factor in the delicate equation that I’ve chanced on is Dr Rind’s temperature graph method. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT !
Buy a reliable digital theremometer...I found one on Amazon after much searching,..that works !
Religiously follow Dr a Rinds method,..it shows you the state of your metabolism and helps you to know when you need more adrenal support and when you are able to invpcrease your thyroid meds .
I’ve been told by someone I trust as with loads of experience that all the main thyroid meds are the same,,,however..I feel very confident with asap Thyroid, and I get it on the NHS !
I hope this rather long reply helps ..
Your daughters problem MAY be nothing to do with all this..
But it’s an angle that points in a direction you could try.
All the best.
Just noticed a tree I left typo in my reply to you..it is not asap Thyroid but W P THYROID !
Thankyou for taking the time to share your journey . You are right it is very complex , my daughter is unlucky enough to be trying to sort it in her 20s I was late 40 . You don’t have all the hormonal issues going on 2 . Yes you are so right about the adrenal issue , she is going to go down the nutritional therapy route , and try and modify her diet and lifestyle ( she has cut out gluten ) but they like to have a social life and be active ,,, alcohol I try and avoid completely and feel awful if I have more than a glass ... my daughter is beginning to realise this too . It’s a real balancing act isn’t it , and goes on week in week out ! Ergh !
