A little dose advice needed after Endo visit please.

Hi all. Went to see the Endo today, not too bad a visit again.

I mentioned I have a small lump on my neck but I have recently been given the all clear on an ultrasound for a lump on my arm which turned out to be a benign Limpoma so it might just be another of those. He said secondary Hyperparathyroidism is a possibility with my lab results so it wouldn't hurt to check that out anyway along with looking at my Thyroid at the same time so he ordered an ultrasound on my neck which was reassuring.

He also increased my Levo from 50mcg to 75mcg a day as my TSH is still a bit high. No argument, nice an easy. Until I can get the 75mcg (50+25 Activis) from my own GP though (hospital only do Teva which I can't tolerate) should I try to cut my 50mcg in half to take 75 mcg a day or can I just take 1x50 one day and 2x50 the next? I don't have a pill cutter.

Also advice on Vit D loading dose please. I was supposed to get 4,000 iu a day for 10 weeks followed by 800iu a day after that. The Chemist did not have 4,000 iu in vegetarian capsules so gave me 30,000 iu to take once a week for 10 week instead. With taking a big dose just once a week I want to take it correctly so do I need to avoid taking anything else near it. When should I take it and should I take anything else with it? I currently take my Levo at 7am, my Losartan Potassium for high BP at 12 noon and Vit B complex and Selenium at 8pm. Thanks. Angie.

Glad the consultation went well

Yes you can take 100/50 alternate days

Vitamin D should be at least four hours away from Levo and with the fattiest meal of the day

800iu maintenance dose after loading dose is unlikely to be enough

Thanks SlowDragon . I'm in again with the Endo in another 12 (aka 17) weeks for Thyroid again and ultrasound results so I will get my GP to re test Vit D along with Thyroid before I go. If my vit D is still low and my GP won't increase the maintenance dose I can ask the Endo if he will. I'm not sure it will be enough either since I am Veggie, not outdoors enough and I'm obese. Ugh! I hate that term.

So will the Vit D be ok near the B complex and selenium because that is near my main meal?

AngieAsh,

VitD is available without prescription so if you need more than 800iu you can buy it over the counter.

It will be fine to take vitD with the B complex and selenium.
