Had a TT in 2010 as well as a parathyroidectomy. I have intermittent slow gastric emptying and/or functional dyspepsia. Have any of you tried "jumpstarting" your metabolism by temporarily increasing your thyroid meds? If so, was it successful?

Maryfran33,

Your metabolism will not be jumpstarted by overmedicating. If you are optimally dosed on Levothyroxine your metabolism shouldn't be slow. If you post your recent thyroid results and ranges members will advise whether you are optimally dosed.

Have you had vitamin D, Folate, ferritin and B12 tested? If so post actual results and ranges. If not ask GP to test

If these are too low (very common with thyroid problems) then thyroid hormones struggle to work

Low stomach acid is common. Symptoms are almost identical to high stomach acid and is possibly even more frequently misdiagnosed than thyroid
