Do you also have high thyroid antibodies ? Ever been tested? This is Hashimoto's or autoimmune thyroid disease

Your dose did NOT need reducing, TSH is largely irrelevant on Thyroid replacement hormone, as long as FT4 and FT3 are within range that's given

Your vitamin levels need checking as Hidden has said

If you have Hashimoto's then looking st gluten free diet as likely to help

Very definitely Hashimoto’s

TSH needs to be as low as possible (but still detectable) and FT4 right at top of range and FT3 at least above mid range.

Highly likely your vitamins are too low

He has absolutely no reason for reducing your dose by 50mcg on the mistaken knowledge that a TSH is the only thing to go by.

They also believe we will come to harm and have a heart attack but this isn't true, otherwise people who have/had thyroid cancer would not have a dose which suppresses their TSH.

Your FT4 is good but your FT3 could be a little bit higher.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested and B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate?

You have hashimoto's (Autoimmune Thyroid Disease) due to having thyroid antibodies. They wax and wane and attack the thyroid gland until you're hypo. Treatment is the same as hypo but going gluten-free can help reduce the antibodies.

No, you are not overmedicated as your free T4 is well within range and free T3 is low in range (needs to be up in the mid-high 5s). Your GP is panicking as your TSH is low but that doesn't matter when you are on meds as long as T3 is in range. Get a copy of the Dr Toft Pulse article from louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org to show to your GP.
