Hi everyone- hope all is well.

Following thyroidectomy as a child I immediately developed hypoparathyroidism. Now I’m post- menopausal and calcium drops from time to time. I’m always chronically low but now 1.7.

I have a lot of difficulty taking calcium supplements due to stomach upset. Right now trying chewable chocolate calcium. And adding more yogurt etc. The low calcium affects my appetite and the tabs make it worse.

Any ideas for calcium supplementation?

Super-girl57,

Perhaps your pharmacist can advise what brands of calcium are available and you can work through them to see whether one is more tolerable than another. You could also increase your consumption of calcium rich foods.
