hello all again please can you advise as you know ive had my first appointment with endo on 3rd october where i was told he would be doing bloid tests again and this would also include blood for antibodies for graves, i have now called his secretary for result but he said it is not necessary to do one, as you know im hyper but have hashimotos aswell but need the graves done, i have been advised several times by forum users to get this test done but doctor cant do it and endo does not think its necessary where can i get it done?? Just concerned that i could have it running alongside hashis.😊

Ask for a second opinion. He's afraid of being proved wrong!

Bonjour greygoose, i dont want to see him again, so going to call this pm and ask what i need to do. He also did not send copies of bloods to my doctor. So on friday im going to get my bloods done again as the ones he done was taken in the afternoon with food. I really dont gave faith in him.😨

Rmichelle,

It's hypothyroid patients that are advised to have early fasting thyroid tests. There's no need for you to retest unless you want to. Ask your endo's secretary to email you the results and ranges or contact the hospital PALS and ask them to intercede. It sometimes takes up to 3 weeks after my consultation for me to receive a copy of the letter sent to my GP.

I had to go through PALS to find out what is happening with blood tests from 8th September. I have to say once they get to you they are very quick to sort things out. Had a call yesterday from a Dr at the hospital he had results from sept and the one I had last week. Apparently my vit d is low. If he hadn't called and I hadn't gone to PALS I wouldn't have found out until December. Also the hospital hadn't let GP know the results so he is now going to send a letter with results and request prescription for vit d. Why don't they inform GP 😤😡

Thankyou i just want to know if i have graves, i was under the impression that he was sending me for the tsi blood test but i called secretary but he only tested for tsh and free4, she was willing to send them results but im not bothered about them as i am getting bloods done tomorrow. Just a pain in the neck he thinks it is not worth doing!! When i need it, ive been confirmed hashis it makes sense to follow suit. Just a shame i have got to fork out for private. I havent heard of PALS??

It's a part of the hospital patient advice and liaison service. If the dr gets a call or email from them they have to respond pretty quickly as the complaint can escalate to the higher levels within the department. Well worth a try but don't expect an answer for

Oops don't expect an immediate response as they are very busy. But once they contact you the response from the dr is very quick

Hi there clutter, oh i thought it was all thyroid patients, got that wrong then, ive had previous emails aswell from other forum users saying dont forget to test on a empty stomach and first am. So i dont need to fast and its ok to take meds and go in the afternoon? X

I didn’t use to take my Carbimazole before testing. I would also only have a drink before hand. As long as you do the same each time.

Can you look up juliecressey on here and ask her about it. She is going to London next week to have the test. You have to go to a specified clinic to have blood taken. I rang and they told me that it would cost £159.25 and I could have it done at Bristol. I just don’t understand why they have told you they cannot do it for you. Val
