Has anybody here been a patient of his? I'm aware he can't prescribe medications but can he suggest them? If anyone has any experience of a consultation with him it'd be great to hear from you.

Dr P is much beloved by many members here, a really lovely man who listens and understands, and he really does understand as he is hypothyroid himself.

I saw him many years ago when he was able to prescribe. Now he will suggest what to get, maybe even where to get it but not sure about that.

Does he know about other pituitary problems also? Or just extensively hypothyroidism? I take it he is one who looks beyond bloods on a screen? He's an ex NHS endo if I'm correct in thinking so? x

Not an NHS endo, he was an NHS GP who later went into private practice. He also trained at the Broda Barnes Foundation in America.

I don't know about pituitary problems.

You'll find a lot about him on Google and his book is excellent - Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy, very readable and easy enough to understand.

I believe he now only works from his Crawley clinic.

I have seen him three times, he really is a lovely man. He can not prescibe but he can advise what tests to get or medications.

Best wishes

Do you mind me asking what he suggested for you?

Good morning, It started off with Adrenal Support, originally Nutri Adrenal but as a lot of people had the same side effect with that, we went on to 10 vitamin C tablets a day, but that wasn't quite strong enough so I was moved on to Hydrocortisone, then T3 but T3 was far too strong for me.

Adding to, and agreeing with, everything said, in SeasideSusie reply, I will just say, you will not be disappointed, consulting with Dr P.

I can tell you, I was suffering toxicity, autoimmune thyroid, TSH <0.01, feeling very, very unwell.

I was told my thyroid had died, become a shrivelled, fibrous mass when I had an NHS ultrasound, (through a volunteer programme, I got myself onto) ..

I visited a reflexology, she told me my body was shutting down (I felt that too), she loaned me Dr P book. At last! A Dr understood! I purchased the book, and contacted Dr P.

Today, my thyroid has stabilised. My diet has improved. Toxicity symptoms, such as skin rashes, are 90 percent improved, etc...

Dr P, has not only enabled me, to begin recovering, he has reminded me, to trust myself. My confidence was hitting rock bottom, after having my awful symptoms, ignored by previous GP. My GP response, was making me sick!

Get well. You are halfway there... trust your gut.. good luck.
