Hi new member here, could I please receive advice on where to acquire T3 since my endo stopped it in September 2017. Diagnosed hypothyroid 2012. Thanks

T3
Welcome to the forum, Jax90.
Did your endo say why T3 was being withdrawn and was Levothyroxine dose increased to compensate?
T3 was withdrawn because the endo said improvement of symptoms wasn't clinical evidence and levothyroxine was kept the same at 150mcg. I have symptoms of tiredness, pins and needles, puffy eyes, throats feeling tight, goitre, constipation, weight gain, tiredness, bone/joint pain. Thanks
Jax90,
What a pillock! Worse still not to increase Levothyroxine dose to compensate.
Were you feeling well on the T4+T3 combination? If you had bone/joint pain then you should ask your GP to check ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate. Deficiencies are common in hypothyroid patients and ferritin and vitD deficiencies in particular can cause bone/joint pain.

Yes I felt better on the combi therapy
Because adding T3 was what you need
2nd endo is a a....e
We have had whole bunch of people turn up having had same thing
One endo starts them on T3, they finally begin to get better
Then some idiot endo says symptoms improving is nothing to dobwith adding T3 and takes it away
Low and behold symptoms return, often worse than before as the sudden removal crashes gut function and vitamins nose dive
It's completely unacceptable
the endo said improvement of symptoms wasn't clinical evidence
OMG, that just about takes the biscuit! What evidence do they need then FGS!
Plainly, it's evidence of spontaneous remission of symptoms that happened in the same timescale as the use of the T3 and it would be no more than an unfortunate coincidence if those symptoms spontaneously recurred with the cessation of the T3.
And this just shows how unreliable symptoms are for measuring improvement in a chronic condition. Even if those improved symptoms are reflected in contemporaneous blood work and would deceive the unwary or the lay person.
I think that's how the clinical summary would read, SeasideSusie

Was this different endo than the one that initially started you with T3?
Highly likely with T3 stopped that your vitamin levels have nose dived
Do you have results for vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. Ideally from when on T3 and now
Do you have Hashimoto's (high antibodies)
If so changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms.

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results
I once heard from endo - when I said to him that since T3 addition to my T4, my condition had improved a LOT - he answered: "placebo effect can do much for some patients"... and told me to stop all my T3 cold turkey
This is the case I have in Spain, but even here I found an endo that is Ok. with T3, just took me quite long to find him. Easiest it is in Germany, as I lived there, my previous GP sends me T3 when I need it. For me it is simply cruel to tell a patient to stop a medication that makes his life so much better quality. And my hormones are not even half range! But those endos do not care how we feel...
