Anyone been there? Are they likely to prescribe t3? Well see prof in 2 weeks. Am self medicating now so taking both t4 and t3. Any experience appreciated.

Hello Hannah9,
When you say Thyroid Clinic are you referring to an endocrinologist? or maybe immunlogy? - I have been to both and I am sorry to say they are as unhelpful there as anywhere - I was refused any thyroid medication that wasn't the the normal synthetic T4, they couldn't have been more ridgid in there approach if they had tried.
The professor was very unfriendly and arrognant which resulted in a heated arguement.
Sorry to be negative but that was my experience - I hope you have a better one
Hi Hannah9,
There are a couple of professors at Addenbrookes Endocrinology & I'm guessing you will be seeing the same one that I did 10 years ago. (current President of BTA)
To a point he was ok with me - after many years of being unwell it was he that finally dx'd me as Hypothyroid with a TSH of 3.6 & subsequently prescribed combination therapy.
As kitten-whiskers has demonstrated, not everyone has had a positive experience at Addenbrookes so I hope you'll be lucky & get good treatment.
