Way back in 2002 my then GP told me that although my blood results were within 'normal' I was so symptomatic he was prepared to treat with Levothyroxine. My problem was a malfunctioning 'pathway signalling' twixt Piturity/Thyroid. My mother also suffered with this problem. I am now on a dosage of 125mcg daily. My yearly blood tests always come back 'within normal'.
However this year in particular my physical/mental health has been challenging to say the least. I have had 2 'siezures' linked to major internal infections both treated with stays in hospital for surgery. Has anyone else heard of this extreme form of slowing of the system due to the sluggishness of Hypothyroid or am I barking up the wrong tree?

if you have a pituitary problem with one hormone, you usually have problems with multiple hormones (or a growth on the pituitary). It might be worth getting the list of decent endos from louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org (if you don't feel confident in your GP to refer you to a good one) so you can get an appointment for a full investigation.
Hi Hypo Trish I am sorry to hear that you are still feeling unwell. All I know about levo is that the different brands have different ingredients and they can make you feel diabolical (terrible experience). I have read Dr Izabella Wentz. "Hashimotos Protocol". Prior to this I had started a gluten free lifestyle. Now I have been pain free!!!!! and feeling like a brand new woman. I just had my bloods checked but haven't had the results yet. The last one my TSH was 0.51, and t3, t4 are behaving. I believe that it is a long road to finding what works for you but it certainly is doable. You have to know you! Please, please read the book and do everything you can to help yourself. If you need to offload some grumbles I will listen. Good luck.
Thanks filenada your comments mean so much to me - this year I feel I have been shouting down a well. I am now seeing a third GP in our practice! Unfortunately Private health care is way beyond my income.
Keep shouting, keep a diary, keep faith in yourself. Check out the tick list for all your symptoms and list any that aren't on it. Present it story form or bullet point (I prefer to tell a story) and give it to your GP. You can do this, just believe.
Many thanks to you all on this forum - I have now built a case of symptoms showing I was better on a dose of 150mcg Levo not the 125mcg they have reduced me too. I have also some evidence to suggest I am vitamin/mineral deficient since having my gall bladder removed in April this year due to sepsis.
I have kept a diary over this month showing by blood pressure is erratic and falling dramatically after 15.00 - 16.00 hrs average 97/65 my body temperature is consistently between 35 - 36 degrees so when I collapse and paramedics take my temp shouting 'normal' within the range of 37 - 38 I have a fever!
I believe now that my body has ticked over on this 125 dosage but when an infection or something else comes along it can't cope and goes into toxic shock.
Armed with all this I go to see my new GP on 6th November with my partner for back up, we look forward with trepidation to her response.
