Have an endo appointment at 9.30am and have tried to get them to do blood tests before appt but to no success. They say that they will have blood tests taken after appt is this OK? Am on both levo and t3 (self medicating t3)

Hannah9,

Thyroid tests can be done anytime of day but as TSH is highest early in the morning it is advisable to have it as early as possible. Make sure you take Levothyroxine and T3 after your blood test.

Do you think I shall insist that they don't take it in the day? Or is it ok since we know that tsh isn't that important? Last time it was 0.05 anyway

Hannah9,

TSH will have been higher at 7.30am than it will at 10.00am.

We know that, but does your endo?

Probably not. To be honest I'm not expecting to get any help but at least I want to try.

Yes, of course. Good luck! :)

You could have a friend text you before your appointment which requires you to rush straight home after endo. Therefore you need to book another appointment for blood tests ?.

That's what I would do

I didn't bother with anything but the truth: We have been here for over 2 hours, journey took 1 hour and need to go now. I will take the paperwork with me and have the blood tests when I can get carer/OH to take me, but I can't stay now. It seems that my last really inept endo had never had anyone say that before. BTW he had kept us waiting over an hour as he 'didn't know that he had a clinic' and then made us see the registrar for the full awful story while he sat next door on the computer. I then had to repeat everything to him and insist as much as I was able that I was heard. I was absolutely done for but really furious that I had wanted a discusssin about my health issues and the great man was too busy to apologise himself or even to have the decency to see me himself.

No surprise,I went for eye laser and the consultant went off to lecture in another town .I was left two hours over lunch until nurses entered the room wondering what I was doing. I complained to the top mabager who was apologetic and had me seeing another doc the next day.
